RE: Anyone working on user scenarios?
I'm trying to work on my first ever scenario for TOAW-ACOW; "Texas Revolution" based on the old boardgame by Mings from a number of years ago (see my VASSAL module of it HERE).
However, I can't work on the forces, I keep getting a "not enough system resources" message and I'll get that when trying to load my map unless I shut down everything. I suspect that this is a known compatability issue with Win2k/XP and I'm trying to find out if there's a patch or fix for this - if anybody has any suggestions? I can't believe that a gig of RAM isn't enough for a game that came out when it did.

RE: Anyone working on user scenarios?
The issue isn't RAM, it's that every individual picture is loaded into something called the GDI when you're playing, which is still limited to 64K. I've made some tweaks to TOAW 3 so that its better than TOAW COW, although you stil can't run more that 3-4 copies. Down the road, I'm going to look into putting the graphics into regular memory unless you're drawing. It's going to be a little slower, but machine speeds have increased enough that it shouldn't be noticeable.ORIGINAL: GJK

I'd like to be able to run just one copy that allows me to save my forces while in the editor! [:)]
Thanks, I'm looking forward to the updated release.
In the meantime, if anybody is interested in the map for Texas Revolution, I've uploaded it HERE. I have the OOB's and unit info from the original game if somebody is interested in picking up the pieces and finishing this up. [&o]

As long as we're posting screenshots;

Rhodes etc., 1943.

Nice, Ben...guess it was not easy to create these notes on the upper right corner so that they look like a continued text... [:)]

You're not kidding. But with quite a substantial briefing, having the key house rules on the map makes the game so much easier to play.
For comparison, the same area in google maps;

Nice job. Did you use ODD to create it?

Yeah. As with several operations that never happened, everyone was good to go, then the shipping was needed for something else, things were postponed and then cancelled.
The operation could have given the Germans yet another headache by make him increase Greek garrisons, made it easier to strike at Ploesti, and potentially affected the attitude of Turkey.
The Germans get more or less the same reinforcements they used for Leros, with a few extra bits and bobs.

I hope to eventually sit down and alter the Korean War scenario.
Want to scale it down to battalion level (Regimental for Chinese) so will need to alter the map and scale for the scenario to function properly.
Wil take time. hardest part I had with old version was editing events.
Hopefully that will be easier to do with this new version

There are a couple of authors who have made 1905 Russo-Japanese War scenarios some of which would be suitable (updated to 1950 of course) for your project. Suggest that you contact the authors and request permission to use their work.

Rhino...
I'll be on full kid duty during your trip . . .
I reccomend The Ramp for a Bloody Mary hangover cure. Not that I've had the need since we started having kids. [;)]
Golden Boy Pizza and The Bohemian Cigar Store in North Beach used to still be authentic when me and the missus were still in the mix. Lower Clement Street is like China Town without the hype. Chestnut Street and Union Street if you want to meet yuppies -- or whatever they are called these days. Never buy coffee at a Starbucks. Go to Peets or one of the independents.They were roasting coffee in Frisco when Seattle was a howling wilderness.

Appreciate the tips. I may very well need a Bloddy Mary although, I am also old enough to know better. But who cares!

Rhino...
I forgot to mention that the Ramp has a nice view of a big, old, dry-dock. Not much waterfront left in Frisco, but there's a piece right there.
In other news... I reworked my map with the ODD utility. I used National Geographics online maps, Michelin, and an old Goodes Atlas, plus some nice stuff from a website dedicated to the 1/33 of the 3rd.
As soon as I don't have to work, I'll be getting back to tweaking the OOB and TOE's. I've decided to add the French II Corps to defend the west side of the Rhine only. Then all this work and family stuff came up...

Awesome, let me know if you need help understanding why 'Elmer' does some things that he does. Also, let me know what I need to look into putting into the next release for 'Elmer' I have some ideas, but I'm always open to other ideas.ORIGINAL: rhinobones
After reading all the comments and suggestions for TOAW 3 it is obvious, as Ralph has pointed out and responded to, a good number of people want scenarios designed for play against the PO. I have a design for a scenario designed to be played against AOwPI (pronounced “Oh’pee”) which stands for Artificial Opponent with Programmed Intelligence. It is an Earthling (human) against AOwPI; a challenging scenario against AOwPI which can be played in an evening when your PBM mates have let you down, or when you just feel like something different.
