question on Buron map

Post by Varangian »

Hi

I was wondering if there was a problem with one of the roads on the Buron map or I just don't understand the notation. I try to move a tank down an apparently clear road but I get "no clear path" and the tank doesn't move. Is this a map error? Thanks

There does not appear to be anything wrong with the coding of that section of dirt road. Was the problem with using one Move dot or a series of Move waypoints? With the tank close up to the stone wall, which in the attached has the same color in the tool as the dirt road (that's just the tool setting, not the map coding). A single move order dot may try pathing too close to the stone wall to allow the tank's element width coding to start the move, hence the "No clear path".

Set waypoints with the first close to the tank and out in the middle of the road, then others then up the middle of the road. Alternately, place one move waypoint beyond where you want the tank to end up, but you will have to babysit it to put it on defend before it gets there.

Thanks for the response,

The "no clear path" occurs with both a single dot or the series of dots and for both long and short paths.

I have now been able to move with small steps in very specific directions. A very small change in the move dot position can make it move or give it the "no clear path." It seems incredibly fussy as to position with no apparent reason (to me that is). The road looks clear and wide on the map. Is the vehicle size or shape a possible issue?

Thanks again for your help.

I can get down there using repeated small movement orders.

I think it's because the Stone fence is coded as a stone wall (house wall???)

Thanks Andrew for checking this out.

Hate to ask this but do you think this affects other areas of the map?

All/most of the heavier looking fences are coded as wall... now this may be intentional to create an impassable wall for vehicles.. but it obviously cases problems down that corridor pictured above.
