Font and icon scaling
Really looking forward to this game, but am a bit worried as it uses a similar display to WitP. I hardly ever play that game any longer due to tiny fonts and icons that my old eyes have real trouble with. Any chance fonts and icons are scalable in this engine?

Re: Font and icon scaling
We've been working to make more of the screens have scalable fonts and many do - but not all. We've prioritized the ones you use to actually PLAY the game. In general, you'll get the best font size, by letting the game set the font size to match your display resolution.Jim D Burns wrote: Mon Oct 06, 2025 9:26 pm Really looking forward to this game, but am a bit worried as it uses a similar display to WitP. But if you already use DPI scaling, it will work BUT it might not be optimal in terms of everything fitting on the screen.
We've been testing with 1k, 2k and 4k monitors and so far EVERYONE has signed off on thinking things are a LOT better than they were.
So at least we're trying to get there !!

Re: Font and icon scaling
Any chance you could make it so the screen was scrollable with the mouse wheel so extra large fonts too big to display on a single screen simply run off the bottom into a scrollable screen? Probably too late for those kinds of changes for this title, but perhaps possible in future releases? Just me wishing out loud lol. These days I need to use Zoomit to play most any game or even to simply read this forum, but it's a cumbersome tool and being able to increase font sizes in game to an x large font would be far more preferable to those of us who are optically challenged.jwilkerson wrote: Mon Oct 06, 2025 10:42 pm BUT it might not be optimal in terms of everything fitting on the screen.

The individual screens are click and drag. That might help you....GPJim D Burns wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 3:03 amAny chance you could make it so the screen was scrollable with the mouse wheel so extra large fonts too big to display on a single screen simply run off the bottom into a scrollable screen? There is an in game magnifier ! I think its "pressing the M key" ... I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard a lot of chatter about it.Jim D Burns wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 3:03 amAny chance you could make it so the screen was scrollable with the mouse wheel so extra large fonts too big to display on a single screen simply run off the bottom into a scrollable screen? Yes, I remember. It magnifies under the mouse pointer....GPjwilkerson wrote: Thu Oct 09, 2025 12:24 amThere is an in game magnifier ! I think its "pressing the M key" ... Re: Font and icon scaling
not a direct fix, but Nvidia allows you to fill the screen, so my pc is set to 1920*... but it is expanded by my video card to 3840*...
Means you don't have problems with font scaling, but can still use your monitor.
This is for Wite1,2,witw, and any other games you wish to play. No comment on wis.
This comment assumes your problem is with 4k screens, and not a visual problem.

Re: Font and icon scaling
Thanks, but my problem is definitely visual, so magnification or increased font size would be the only real remedy for me.trooperrob wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 5:20 pm This comment assumes your problem is with 4k screens, and not a visual problem.

Re: Font and icon scaling
Increasing OS DPI setting to 150% has been used by a few of our internal testers successfully.
Using the "M" magnifier key.
Or getting some reading glasses. So called "reading glasses" are essentially magnified lenses in front of your eyes. That would definitely help as well. If you park your computer monitor farther away from your eyes than you read from, you might also need so called "computer glasses". I have both !

Re: Font and icon scaling
Eyes have progressively grown worse over the years, prompting me to get larger and larger monitors. Then an aneurysm on the left retinal nerve burst rendering that eye all but useless due to severe distortion in the vision of that eye because of the open wound left behind on the nerve (nerves do not heal wounds they suffer).jwilkerson wrote: Wed Oct 29, 2025 6:16 pm you might also need so called "computer glasses". So I'm down to a single eye and now use a 60 inch TV for a monitor, so I'm forced to sit about 15 feet from the screen due to its size. I've been relying on using magnifiers like Zoomit for several years now. Recently bought some binocular glasses to see if they might help, should arrive soon so my problem may be a mute point soon.
Even if they don't help, the fact there is an in game magnifier means I should be able to at least read the data so I can play the game, so I'd say my issue is resolved already as far as my initial concern goes.

Re: Font and icon scaling
I created the ingame magnifier for cases such as yours specifically.
The final version even got a magnifier API that updates the region to show as you move the cursor. Bill did this one as my magnifier only works with DirectX and ignores the external side bar window.

The only responsible person. (Unless I can frame someone else)

Re: Font and icon scaling
On behalf of those of us with optical issues I thank you sir. It can be very aggravating to see your pursuit of a life long hobby slowly dwindle away because old age renders things you used to take for granted non-functional. So again thanks for all the hard work you put into the magnifier.Alessandro S. wrote: Fri Oct 31, 2025 12:38 pm I created the ingame magnifier for cases such as yours specifically.
