Probably a little late to the party but having tooltips on hovering over the various unit statuses would be amazing. I've had to go to the manual many times for this in the past and it would really help the accessibility, in my opinion. I love the idea of spelling them out like you are doing, but like you said, there probably isn't room for all of them, and I much prefer to have one good way of doing it rather than two (now you've got icons AND the text). My two cents.

Beyond that, I just wanted to say thank you for continuing to put effort into improving the interface; it's obviously a bit dated and your work to update it is AMAZING. Easier to use software means more fun in the game!

Thank you for your kind words, apicton! We are first and foremost fans of the series as well so it’s nice to hear we’re moving in the right direction(s). Feedback is what this thread is all about, and there are Public Betas available for those who want to experience the new features first :geek:

From the Vietnam 2.10.0 Public Beta announcement thread:

budd wrote: Mon Oct 27, 2025 12:29 am Jumping back into CSV, just finished my first scenario with the new beta and there's a lot to love. One QOL thing would be a delete save option on the load scenario screen. Looks like the only way to delete an old save is going into the game folder.
Cheers Budd, happy to hear things are so far so good. Good point, I will see if I have the time to squeeze in a Delete button to scenario launcher for the official build.
Something like this, then. There's a new Delete button for deleting save files, it is inactive on Tab1 / Scenario listing tab, but activates for Tab2 / Save files listing tab.

I managed to implement it in a manner the deleted files are not physically deleted, but moved to Recycle Bin instead and can be restored from there.

The back-up files (OLDER, OLDEST) do not display on scenario launcher by design, but they are automatically deleted as well.

Note that there is a lot of screenshots in this one picture, wanted to keep this compact

With the official release of Vietnam 2.10 (and Middle East 3.10) just a week and a half away, it is time to show the first featured that missed the train, right?

Non-modal Scenario Information that can be kept open all the time while playing, together with Scenario Briefing and CS Intel Feed dialogs. And Schedule Dialog (together with Release Dialog) displaying "CSEE" as the turn# when the units will become available, if such an event is indeed part of the CSEE scenario lua logic.

Oh. I have forgotten to give the Arrived / Scheduled / Release Dialogs the two-colored gridview treatment. Doing that now.

A more traditional looking Scheduled Dialog, with actual turn numbers. The second number after hexcoor is scatter, as these units are parachuting into map in Dien Bien Phu 1 scenario. Perhaps a column of its own? But its only there if scatter is valid. To be considered.

Actually, we can do better than how it was (is) previously. Why not add organizational data here, too. For Release Dialog, replaced Cancel with Help button, there's no action you can take there, it just shows when each of the fixed formations will release.

(Again, this missed the cut for the coming 2.10 Update in a couple of weeks time. Available in the 2.20 Update in due time)

These look great Crossroads. I wish the forums provided a way to show approval or disaaproval without having to clutter a thread with posts like this one. Something like an upvote/downvote system.

Thanks, RedBunny! Always good to see comments here, I've picked many a neat features from these boards from you players.

Finally, making progress with the so called IconList derived listviews: Target Dialog, Artillery Dialog, and Air Support Dialog. These were rather neat, but at the same time, rather complex little dialogs, as the IconList base class was derived from CListBox, which is a Microsoft MFC framework provided listview. I had not forgotten about these, rather punted the ball, as I figured I'd basically need to reprogramme each of these from scratch.

Nope, managed to create facade class hiding the actual CListBox, then replaced it with CListCtrl which allows for these column titles and striped rows. I have not coded the sorting algorithms yet, these are rather complex in that manner as well, as the newly sorted row numbers would need to be matched to the list of actual counters in play. I actually did that already for the Target Dialog, as it was a simpler thing.

To the right are TrackID columns, mostly meant for the scenario designer to be able to pin point the exact tracking id of each unit and to map it to Organization file. So not visible by default, as for most of the time, that is not an interesting data bit at all.

Any chance these dialogs can all get added to the sitrep dialog box as tabs? One box to rule them all :D . A bonus of doing it that way would be freeing up the hotkeys for all those individual dialog boxes, just one hotkey for the sitrep dialog box. I'm going to preach for this until I'm told to go away ;)

Yes, that was a neat suggestion. If not possible within SITREP, at least perhaps as a combined tabbed dialog for all Arrived / Scheduled / Released dialogs. I am in the process of adding a column sort to all these dialogs first. Once that is done, I will see how to combine them.
