Diplomatic channels report that the Greek government has requested help from the British and that it is like that this request will be granted.

The is some movement in the southern portion of the Russian front and of course in Estonia. But our strong forces in the central sector are having a very hard time due to the excellent Russian defense.

Just as an update on the not so visible air and naval war: Italy looses raiding submarines operating in ever changing sectors of the Med. Germany However was recently very successful in Baltic waters and could sink a quite a number of Russian vessels. Once Finland falls, we will withdraw again.

Turku in Finland has fallen. While this is sad news we have to congratulate our opponent for the well conducted campaign. The rest of Finland will resign any day now.

Nobody should have any doubts as to the final outcome of this game - no amount of luck will get this baby going again. That being said, Gary is not the wrong but entirely the right guy to play Tow with. One couldn't ask for a better opponent. For all those that get tired of beating (the quite respectable) AI over and over, I would like to recommend a PBEM game since there is no comparison in the level of excitement it creates and there are few things that I find more rewarding.

As to the current game status, I am sure I made many mistakes. But I don't find the outcome all that a-historic either. Quite possible that this would have happened if the Russians hadn't deployed in risky forward positions in Poland and stayed back in their prepared defensive lines as they should have (and as Gary did) and if they had an un-purged, capable officers corps as the game Russians do enjoy.

Despite the situation I find it interesting to continue and see where it ultimately turns around - if I don't bore Gary too much that is.

If you mean excite, I doubt that the Fuehrer is so inclined. But if you mean execute (as I suspect) then the Fuehrer is a very proven executor himself and requires little assistance.

Not a problem - my own texts are much worse riddled with spelling mistakes. I avoid re-reading my own older posts because of it.

Estonia will fall soon and we open the last bottle of Champagne in our HQ. Even though we currently hold the very production facilities in our hands, it will not be required to order fresh supplies from France as we foresee little demand.

The Western Allies block successfully any further advance on Athens. We will try to be creative here in the future but are not sure if we can advance further with the RN and the French fleets ruling the seas.

This game looks more and more like the entire WWII in fast forward. The Western Allies land in Sicily. We have to transfer back Italian forces from Greece where most are not needed any more since we can deploy only four at a time at the choke point anyways.

The Russians have started to adopt a more aggressive stance after being purely passive against the Axis so far. This shows how strong they feel. While they are certainly strong enough to hold comfortably, it may be still too early for the counterattacks. Individual Russian units leaving their dug-in positions become easy prey of Axis second line units. On the other hand can the USSR easily afford these losses and gains valuable information on our dispositions.

As the initial fast paced campaigns in Europe come to an end and move into a slower gear we switch to a bi-monthly report.
