Open Beta has begun

Germany At War: Operation Barbarossa 1941 is an elegant turn-based design, inspired by classics such as Panzer General, but with more of a historical focus. You command the German forces through a branching historical campaign covering the entire 1941 campaign as well as part of the 1942 campaign. Dozens of scenarios stretch from the Soviet border all the way to Archangel and towards Astrakhan, the original military goals of Operation Barbarossa. Step into a wargame where your performance will rewrite history, through an addictive combination of compelling gameplay, realistic events and challenging battles.

Hi folks,

so it seems all issues have been dealt with. I would prepare the release next weekend if nobody has plans for another heavy testing. That would mean the update would go to Matrix next week.

Hi folks,

so it is finally done. A real epic update for Germany at War has reached the Matrix server. Besides the new campaign, rules and units you will get some films about GaW, the Soviet Dawn campaign for modding and some new images in the Extras folder. All the new stuff has almost doubled the file size from about 161 to 303 Gbytes.

I cannot thank everybody enough who helped taming this beast and i apologize for the long time it took. This was way out of proportion, but i struggled with health issues most of 2019 which delayed every single one of my projects.

Also new issues will not be adressed until update 1.10 if they are not game breaking, but of course be noted and fixed for the next version.

All the best,

Hi folks,

you all are very welcome.

@Zovs: There is no rest for me right now i am afraid. GaW is just a side thing, the main project needs an update, too. And there is plenty to do there. But after Klomanager - Regurgitated has a new version, i will try and get some calmer days. With 1.09 finished i might take a Sunday off before of that - who knows ? [:D]

@terminator: i can imagine - there no small amount of work from you in it plus the new stuff is interesting for creating new maps etc. I just hope all goes well now without major obstacles appearing out of nowhere.

@Edorf: Nice to see you looking forward to the update.

Hi folks,

klhbekool: Thanks for your kind words.

terminator: We have to consider that i dropped the update like a sudden bomb out of the blue sky on Matrix. There usually is a release schedule and they have to do some preparations as well. So if there are already some other updates or new released in the line, it will take a bit. Of course i am a bit impatient, too. Want to see the work on the players machines. [:)]

For the time being 109F (as in Friedrich [:)] is the newest update.

Just in case it takes forever, maybe it can be posted on the company page?

Hi Angry,

it seems it can be a while as its now more that a quarter of a year since it reached Matrix. I will see to it, that GaW 1.09 Ausf.G will be available on the Phobetor site for all those who already have the game.

Should be done this week (Sunday 16th at the latest).

Hi Ronald,

In this time they could have some problems on their own - but if there is Ausf.G I could test my new air doctrine - stronger fighter units and more aggressive air tactics altogether.

Hi fols,

as promised i release the update for all those you are willing to place the stuff in the folders themselves without an installer. You can get the file by clicking on the icon at the top which has the 1.09 in it.

Download 1.09 on the Phobetor site

You are welcome. I am doing alright considering i lost my job in June after 18 years. It was on the brink for a while anyway, but the current crises pushed the event so the company was forced to lay off a whole department.
That is why i cannot make any promises but this one: whenever there is a chance, i will work on new stuff and fixes for Germany at War.

I hope you all do fine and come out of this phase on top of things.

Enjoy the update [:)]
