Don't that just tweak your toes, Martin? To look on your first born son for the first time.

Well then a glass - hell, a tun - of the best; to Joshua Michael Alcock.

It's like nothing I've ever experienced. [:)]
Welcome to fatherhood, mate. Toughest job in the world. Best job in the world.

I concur.

Nope, but my wife is a neo-natal nurse and I have heard the gruesome stories.

An old friend of mine just had his first about 6 months ago. Let's just say that I havent reached the level of maturity to deal with a baby. [:D]

Hi all,
ORIGINAL: Terminus

Good Thread, I'm bored...[>:][>:]

You and Martin still playing ED-BTR PBEM?

Leo "Apollo11"

We're still playing, after a slight diversion caused by work and getting ready for baby.

It's been a good experience so far, a little on the bloody side but that's mostly caused by different tactics to the real life combatants and larger numbers of aircraft being involved. As I said to T, the ratios seem pretty good (mostly cos I'm shooting down more than I lose) but the numbers are skewed towards the higher end of the scale. A 2:1 loss ratio isn't too noticeable when the LW are losing 20 or so aircraft. When the numbers are up towards 100 in a day then things look a lot worse than they are.
Like most Matrix games, it needs a human opponent to get the most from it. T has pulled some surprise moves that the AI couldn't have done and hopefully I've managed to provide a sterner test for him than the AI would have done.

I'd also say HS and the team have done a good job with representing the aircraft. My Whirlwind squadron has seen cock all action, but their high speed and good weapons has resulted in good performance when needed. Conversely the Spitfire Ib has punched far below its ability.

If time (and Dixie MkII) allows, I'll post a single day AAR from the next turn I play over in the BTR forum.

Yuri, it will change the DNS on your PC regardless of what DNS service you use does for that entry...

Leo "Apollo11"

In other words, the site is still there but its but being referred to correctly?

What seems strange to me in that photo is that you don't see the green shoots of spring grass there... that looks like the yellowed grass of late summer/fall.

Here is a closeup of the ground in the same area, at the same time. you can clearly see the buds, shoots, and flowers growing. Incidentally the Trooper in this photo is my Son.

Well, tell him to prune his pompadour. He's got a bit of a Rasta thing going. [:'(]

Good evening Yuri and Mike! [:)]

Hi Steve! How goes the planning for your relocation?

We haven't gotten all that serious yet. After the holidays I can go full bore. We've been sick , other things to do , etc. But it does sound more "official". While Lou doesn't have orders in hand yet , her "corps" has made the announcement of where everybody was going , and she's still up for Omaha. I need a road trip out there to really ramp up my planning! (Wow, a cross country drive in Mid-winter! Now that'll be fun!). [:D]

Are you planning on visiting us?[:D]

I drove cross country in January once. Wasnt so bad. Then again, I did take the southern route, through Texas and Arkansas.

It's OK mate, don't be too hard on yourself. Lots of people on the forum whose first language was not English would make the same mistake you did.

Similar to the period between a man proposing to a woman and saying "I do"; his opinion is utterly without relevance.

As opposed to after the "I do"? [&:]

What makes you think the irrelevance of a man's opinion ends at 'I do'? Buddy, his irrelevance is just getting started then...[:D]

Beat me to the punch. Then again, I'm glad I'm not the only one aware of the perils of saying that.

Unlike some, however, I have enough foresight to figure it out before I say it. [:'(]

Mazel tov, Dixie ol' boy!

Here's to Joshua.

May he be a constant joy to you and Ms. Dixie, be a source of strength and support in rougher times and may he grow up to be the man you want him to be.

Thanks guys.  The poor little tyke already has his father's hairline...

Judging by the confused/terrified look on Pops' face, I'd say thats the least of his problems right now. [:D]

I should hope not. Were it otherwise, Ms. Dixie would be understandably upset. [:'(]
