Turn 49: July 4, 1941

Yugoslavia and Portugal surrender.

German troops move near Turkey, and the Italian fleet blocks passage around Africa. Suspicious.

Airplanes, ground troops and all fleets set sail from the UK headed south.
UK builds a large corps. US builds a large corps.

Axis raiders all over the Atlantic. Germany clearly has designs on Turkey.

UK reinforcements sail around Africa. Canada builds 2 escorts. US builds a large corps.

I don't think it will be possible to save Turkey, but we will delay as long as possible.

Canada builds an escort, the UK builds a large corps.

Turkey loses two corps shattered.

Commonwealth reinforcements arrive. All US forces set sail for Egypt.

The Soviets build two mountain corps. The UK builds two large corps.

LS wasted the Italian alpine XXX. If he'd put it on the Syrian coast, he would have stopped any allied troops from railing into Turkey for a least 1 turn and probably 2. Alternatively, taking that little undefended turkish port would probably have been even more effective.

That mountain corps is still blocking my use of the rail line. So it does annoy me, but yes, very costly for Italy.
