I'm currently playing the 1941 campaign on the new patch. It's January 1942. I don't know what changed, but the German troops are very strong. They are not affected by winter at all. Russian troops are already ridiculous. You can't use them offensively because they are very weak. There are no bonuses related to the winter of 1941/42. I will add that the opponent played poorly with the Germans and the Russian army was in great condition and with the previous versions I could carry out a powerful offensive. This version is impossible because the units are tragically weak and the German ones are very strong... Someone should lose their job for this.

1941 Campaign
Axis: shgenerolas (640 hrs, first GC)
Soviet: algirdas123 (180 hrs, first GC)
1.04.01

Modifications:
- Limited commander deaths;
- Limited naval operations;
- Vehicle repair rating: 10/15 and 25/25

Axis win T12: Soviet player resigned due to heavy losses.
VP = 609

Losses Axis/Soviet
Men 270k/2556k
AFV 2.19k/12.2k
Aircraft 1.7k/10.7k

Perhaps one of the main reasons why Soviets lost - heavy losses in Ukraine. During T2 about 300k soldiers was trapped in Galica pocket, because Soviets did not manage to evacuate them by rail. A similar number of forces were trapped in a pocket around Kyiv during T5. It must be said that the Soviets built a lot of fortresses in Ukrainian cities and left large forces there. This allowed Axis to advance unstoppably through Ukraine and capture Rostov without a battle on T11.

Soviets defended well around Gomel and stopped the entire 9th Army for a long time. Although about 100k Soviet forces fell into the pocket, this halt led to Axis logistical problems in Center. Therefore, Orel and Kharkiv were captured only during T11, although Soviets no longer had significant forces there (Kursk would have apparently fallen during T13).

Soviets were also well entrenched around Smolensk and held until T10. In a battle led by Heinrici, Axis attacked with full force of the 4th Army and suffered quite heavy losses: 3.5k/120k.

Soviets also defended strongly in forests of Veliky Luki, but this was probably a mistake, because about 150k Soviet troops fell into a pocket and were swept by the 16th Army. Apparently that is why at T8 Axis has established itself on the bank of the Neva and began to surround Leningrad. During T9 Axis easily capture Rzhev. During T10 entire PZG-3 began to surround Moscow from the north and west, approaching within 1 hex from the city. At that time Soviet player hastily moved all troops from Orel region to the Moscow, along the way he were able to surround part of the PZG-2 and avoid a huge pocket between Rzhev-Vitebsk and Bryansk-Orel.

After T11 Soviet player realized that he had made mistake of leaving a lot of forces in defense of cities and put himself in a position where the Axis could easily take Stalingrad and all cities of the Caucasus. We agreed that Axis won this time and we will take on a new GC.
