Good stuff Larry...
Well, thank you very much for your kind words. You're too kind by half.
ORIGINAL: Sniper31
in this iteration, I learned, thanks to you, about the use of the space bar...super easy,
incredibly helpful.
And the 'I' key will toggle the visibility of the units too, besides displaying the
crop circles, the range circles ( hexagons if you'd rather ).
ORIGINAL: Sniper31
Also, thanks for highlighting the important things to look at on the Inventory and
Replacements report. It makes perfect sense once you pointed it out.
There's a lot that can be learned by data mining the reports. You find things you
need to know from the various reports and dialogs and then you can make informed
decisions.
ORIGINAL: Sniper31
Trying to soak in all the information from the forum here, the Manual, the Whats New
document, and the tutorial videos and also testing out what I have learned by playing,
it's a sometime slow learning process that your workshop is helping to expedite.
That's the aim of the workshop after all. I'm glad it's working, helping people to make
it through the learning curve phase. After a while, you'll push the mechanics of the
game to the back burner and be able to have a good 'battlefield awareness' and make
your plan and then execute your plan with relative ease. With experience. And
practice. It's like the learning curve with WITP-AE which can be brutal.
ORIGINAL: Sniper31
I don't mind the learning curve by any means, it's just that there is a ton of
information to soak in. All good stuff though :)

I'm glad you find it good stuff. I love the game. Now you know why.

good job ,very nice AAR and thank you
You're quite welcome. I'll try to do a better job.
ORIGINAL: jzardos
Silly question, but why are you playing the Barbarossa
scenario (TOAW III?) and not Directive 21
(TOAW IV)?
D21 is my favorite right after Pacific At War
and I'd rather do D21 than the simple little short
quick B41 but I've become obsessed with the little
guy. Just the right complication, unit density, map um...
map pretty-ness and subject matter all combine to swing
my vote this time.
ORIGINAL: jzardos
Also, so do player have to manually fix rail lines with
units or is it part auto and part manual like in WitE?
If you have some RR engineers handy and there's some
broken rail what else would you do with them? Um....the
game has a slider you can set in the editor about how
much percent chance there is that the rail will be
damaged when it's converted from one side to the other.
In this case from Soviet to Axis. And if that chance is
0% then it's not damaged, doesn't need to be repaired, if
captured. But if the slider says 100% then EVERY rail hex
that is captured will need to be repaired because the act
of capturing it breaks it. And there's a level of auto
rail repair that the scenario designer can set as well.

How many of you would rather see a demonstration of D21 than B41?
I can switch demos if you guys want me to.

Larry, I have no experience D21, so I don't have a preference. I am fine with the scenario that you have been demonstrating, so I don't have any issue with moving forward with it. I assume that is B41? In either case, I'm good.

You have yet to meet D21? Well there's a reason to switch right there. D21 is the FITE game we
love with a Soviet PO. It's a meat and potatoes kind of scenario. I'll do that next then. A Workshop for the
new guys - D21

Im not very sure how the supply works.I played the korean war scenario as a tryout ,so when i put supply on,only the supply dots light up around my units, when i start moving them more supply dots come up?Does that mean you have to make a supply line every turn by moving units? Also do you have to keep a unit on the supply source to make it work or not?
maybe silly Questions but a war is won with supply ;)

It sounds like the scenario is being played with the "no borders" option turned on. If you can
change it to off then "borders" is the option and more supply dots will appear.

No, moving just reveals more hexes to your intel patrols and more is known about your immediate area.

No you don't. It's self-sufficient.

The silly question is the one you didn't ask.

When I get tired I take a nap, when I get hungry I eat something and
the rest of the time I'm at my computer churning out the good news.
I've got a PBEM++ game going with Brian ( World at War 1939-1845 )
and I'm doing this workshop for B41
and I'm playing William in a PBEM++ of Campaign for South Vietnam
and I was playing Thomas H. in a PBEM++ of Pacific at War v.3.63
And I'm doing a workshop on D21
and in my spare time I read the postings on the forum and answer questions.
It's a life.

So um....I got bored one night and added a second objective track to the mod, track 2, so you can have a much different
game than you've been having or if you like track 1 then you can choose that one.

Plus, I added a secondary icon or some kind of arty to the Axis engineer units so now they have a range and can use
their arty offensively. The engineers just got more dangerous.

So I thought I'd do a restart and test it here in the workshop.

So for my first trick I used the special forces units, broken down into three separate pieces each, spread out and got
into the Soviet backfield and were then anvil when I destroyed some Soviet defenders and blew a hole in the Soviet
lines. Then I moved a division through the hole and there's more troops to move yet. This could develop into a bulge
or maybe I can roll up the Soviet lines in each direction.

I blocked the retreat route of the Soviet defender on the road and then with a little cooperation from a nearby Panzer
unit I took out the Soviet defender. Now the way looks to be clear on the road for a little ways.

I moved the entire first formation in the OOB, the 1st Infantry Corps with three divisions pre-positioned to take out
the Soviet defender on the west side. I've almost got him surrounded and that's the next step before I take him out
too.

And the next formation to move was the 38th Infantry Corps and they had some bicycle infantry so I ran them up there to
the last open hex, then brought in the same Panzer unit to kill the Soviet unit. He did and now the next task is to
surround and destroy that Soviet group in the road to Riga.

Everything north of the selected unit has moved to the extent that it's movement points will allow. So the remaining
formations will take up the open spot to the direct east.

So I moved everything up north and now the action has moved a little further south to the next formation to move.
I've infiltrated an AA unit into the Soviet backfield trapping a Soviet defender. I'll take him out now.

I expected the Soviet defender to evaporate but he didn't. He's holding out so I scheduled some attacks to take him down
and will move on to the next formation to move.
