I have a feeling it was a fluke, because basically my ships decided to go past Bataan during the day phase, when they usually go past during the night phase. Perhaps the taskforce commander freaked out because the taskforce went to Manila but didnt unload and still had their supplies. Another possible reason is that they refueled at Bataan. Im going to try to get another one through again, a small taskforce so I wont feel the pain if things go wrong like the previous turn. But Im also thinking of going in heavy this time with AK transports. One big drop with a big load of supplies and perhaps another division too, fast transport missions are also giving my ships high system damaged. Some are already touching 15 already.

Sure AK's are probably going to be better anyway. SLip in drop off alot of supplies and another division.

Are the forces starting to feel the trouble and having trouble keeping the fight up?
It sure seems like you've been able to hold manilla longer then every other opponent perhaps bwheatley didn't put enough troops into it at first.

i think its a mistake to go on the offensive so soon. But what do i know :)

Are you going to land at that city that looks like it is undefended? or could that just be FoW?

Im sending in some Indian divisions just to hold Manila for another 40 days or so until the British navy is fully operational. Then I can meet the Japs whenever I want.
Regarding my offensive, first Im going to send some small recon units first, see if the hex is undefended. It be more like hit and run tactics, with small brigades. Just to divert some of his navy and perhaps some troops to. I'm also thinking of loading up a few US divisions that are seating on the west coast to help in PI. They doing very little at the moment. Im also moving up Australian divisions to Darwin for future use.

I hope for your sake Manila doesn't fall too soon. If it does, the whole of the SRA and India will be wide open for invasion.

The way the combat is looking, I think I can hold. Once I start seeing the combat odds going against me I simple plan to evacuate everything from Manila. Just like what I done with Pearl. I doubt all of Manila will surrender in one go. When the combat odds are like 2 to 1, then I will start to evacuate. Bill was saying that the reason why his doing so badly is that he doesnt have support for his troops so I guess his bringing in support and things might change. I have 3 indian divisions on route, but I think I will only send one. 3 will suck alot of supplies and I just dont have the navy to gareentee supplies yet.

How the game looks.

Post by general billy »

Every turn I get impatient, I feel I need to do somthing. I have British troops gathered in Camranh Bay, ready for war. Bill guns in Battaan is blowing every surface ship that goes past. Fast transport missions have now became a nightmare.

If I use my British/indian units I can't offord to have them get bogged down. As Tankerance said, if things goes wrong, India/SRA/ Malaya is wide open for invasion.

The US fleet is crippled and getting repaired. 5 or 6 US divisions seat on the west coast doing nothing. If there were some US BB's ok I would be able to recapture other areas i.e. Midway or wake.

What are my options.

Maybe other ships besides the MSW will do better trying to get past bataan? Are they sneaking through at the daytime. If i were you i'd go for lahania. Because he probably moved everything from Lahania to pearl since he doesnt need lahania anymore after taking pearl. That would give you a base that you can drydock in to make sure you were ok if your ships were hurt.

Now this is what I would do... maybe not a war winning strategy, but ye olde monkey wrench.

If his navy is badly beat up too, and if all of his forces are committed to the Philippines. I'd get 3 Divisions worth of troops, and put them ashore in Formosa. Not enough to take it, but if all of his assets are in Pearl and Manila, then he can't have adequate protection of his interior bases. Just land and take Takao (or Taichu), and hold there. He may have to pull out some PI troops, or abandon it altogether. That, or I would gather forces, and try and hit one of his Pacific bases, just to cause him to look away.

Hmm, those MSW ships done ok going in to Manila but they got hammared going out back to Camranh Bay. They seem to be going past bataam during the night, at full speed, with no refuel on but are still getting hit I guess they might be clearing mines on route.
I tried again with some DM's they were kind of sucessful with only one managed to get a shell hit. I think Im going to take another risk and fast transport. Another possible reason is that when Bill brought in his coastal guns they had high fatigue, now that they fatigue is down they scoreing hits on my ships. I guess I have to find out.

I think attacking formosa looks like a good idea. Hope there aint any units or worst, coastal defenses in Taichi. I can also pick up british units in Shanghai aswell. Only problem Formosa is pretty close to Japan. He can bring every ship from Japan to intercept my transport ships at full speed. Pecasroes is a big threat, I have a feeling he has his navy there.

hmm... If I go in heavy , with alot of units. I think I be able to take all of formosa if he dont pull units out of Manila.

I was also thinking of just landing a big force at Lagaspi and just fighting my way up to Manila. I be using every British unit I can grab.
