Whew...what a relief. Almost left a new page for USSMike triple play. Thank goodness I came back to check on y'all before heading to bed.

G'night you lot. INP.

What do you mean by 'less smoothly', T? I've been considering a laptop-if it's doesn't jibe with Windows 8, that would be an argument for sticking with one of the old W7 models.

I should append an emphatic "FOR ME" to that sentence, since others have reported no problems with AE under Win 8. It does require you to run MichaelM's beta patch, however.

As for my experience, the turn resolution goes by in fits and starts, and the transition from combat animations (mainly A2A) to combat report takes longer than I remember it doing under Win 7. I'm using the same command line switches as I did on my old PC.

The game is by no means unplayable. Your Mileage May Vary.

EDIT: Also remember that Win 8 is a very new operating system, so the AE experience may change for the better (or worse) further down the line...

Hi all,

We got 25 cm of snow (10 inches) overnight... [X(]

It is the 3rd big snowfall this winter (first 50 cm = 20 inches in December, then 70 cm = 27 inches in January and now 25 cm = 10 inches in February)!

Luckily the temperatures are around 0 degrees Centigrade so it is slowly meting in town already...

It says 1:72 on the box, so you're probably right...[:'(]

You used microscope - didn't you?

No. It's quite clearly marked in the center of the box, down at the bottom.[:'(]

Quite clearly?

Just started using AE on a Windows 8 laptop. Here is the command line I'm currently using. I like windowed mode because I switch back and forth to Tracker, etc. Note that the resolution I have specified is the full resolution of my monitor.

"C:\Matrix Games\WITP AE - PBM #2\Beta2\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -altFont -archive -wd -deepColor -px1366 -py768 -fixedArt -noFire -SingleCpuOrders -cpu3

I also stipulate that it starts with the window maximized, doing away with messing around with it.

Why on Earth would MichaelM's beta be required to run on Windows 8?

On second thought...don't answer that. I don't want to know. [8|]

False hope / info... the temperature dropped below 0 degrees Centigrade in the evening and new snow started... small blizzard in fact... thus far 5 cm in 1 hour (2 inches)...

So. doing a fowl thing from Jaques Pepin's recipes; Have a nice turkey breast marinating, but there's nothing happening with side dishes. Main courses are cool, but what about side dishes?

Ok, so made a Ballottine with a capon, but what the heck does one serve with it? So went off to some Chinese veggie recipes and whipped up some chopped onion, yellow squash, zucchini, garlic, and a skoosh of oyster oil. Dig out a lemon during cooking, and it turns out very tasty.

Add some crusty bread with a plate of balsamic vinegar and olive oil, as a dipping sauce, and you gots a full tasty meal with all the nifty food groups.

Just fyi. Ciao JWE

End of April for me. Usually takes one minute. Log on to our IRS equivalent website. Check that the reported figures looks right. Click OK. Done.

ETA; ... and await the return of some of my money in the beginning of June. I usually pay a little too much tax during the rest of the year.

For folks here that don't have to itemize, are single and with income from a singular source, it's pretty straightforward too. In my case, my wife is an independent contractor to a bunch of different operations, we both have consulting income from third parties, investment accounts that vary depending on the source of income leading into them, etc., etc. We also have to pay quarterly taxes to both the Feds and the state too.

It gets cumbersome with the layers of complexity. What a pain in the arse...
