I think last year (maybe early) GJ's father died. At the same time, GJ's attorney work was getting pretty frantic. So he bowed out. Others (especially Obvert) can post in more detail.

I think there's a good chance GJ will return one of these days. I just think he will.

As for the community, I think it's alive and healthy. Alot of the old timers have gradually moved on (and we miss them dearly), but many newcomers have arrived. As best I can tell, there is more activity on the Forum today than ever before (except possibly immediately after release).

Speaking of books, go read those novels by Patrick Rothfuss. They're great.
