Wow..I love movies. Don't know how I missed this thread.

Dr. Strangelove is just packed with memorable lines:

-----------------------------<Battle Hymm of the Republic in background>

Major T. J. "King" Kong: Well, boys, I reckon this is it - nuclear combat toe to toe with the Roosskies. Now look, boys, I ain't much of a hand at makin' speeches, but I got a pretty fair idea that something doggone important is goin' on back there. And I got a fair idea the kinda personal emotions that some of you fellas may be thinkin'. Heck, I reckon you wouldn't even be human bein's if you didn't have some pretty strong personal feelin's about nuclear combat. I want you to remember one thing, the folks back home is a-countin' on you and by golly, we ain't about to let 'em down. I tell you something else, if this thing turns out to be half as important as I figure it just might be, I'd say that you're all in line for some important promotions and personal citations when this thing's over with. That goes for ever' last one of you regardless of your race, color or your creed. Now let's get this thing on the hump - we got some flyin' to do.

or

Maj. T.J. "King" Kong: Survival kit contents check. In them you'll find: one .45 caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four days concentrated emergency raisons; one drug issue containing: antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills; one miniature combination Russian phrase book and bible; one hundred dollars in rubles; one hundred dollars in gold; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three lipsticks; three pair a nylon stockings. Shoot, a fellah could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff.

or

the hydrogen bombs have "Handle With Care' stenciled on them. [:D]

from Mash.........................................

Hotlips O'Houlihan: I wonder how such a degenerated person ever reached a position of authority in the Army Medical Corps.
Father Mulcahy: He was drafted.

or

Frank Burns: God meant us to find each other.
Hotlips O'Houlihan: [enthusiastically, opening her blouse] His will be done.

from The Godfather....................................

When Michael retreats into the Don's den for his first big "business" confab (after it looked like he might steer clear of the family "business"). His wife looks on from the hall knowingly...and one of the soldiers returns her gaze without passion and slowly closes the door.

When Michael's son is being baptized and the scenes for the baptisim are intercut with various mob bosses being extinguished.

"Do you reject Satan?".......BAAM <a neat red hole appears in some forhead>

I am surprised nobody mentioned this one.....

"To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. "[;)]

The Longest Day, when the Scots come marching down the road with bagpipes blaring to relieve the commandos at Pegasus Bridge with mortar shells landing all around

It was the Commandos but their leader, Lord Lovat, was a Scot and he introduced the Bagpipes. A weapon now banned as inhumane!!

The ultimate movie moment for me was the ending scene when Clint Eastwood entered the bar with his double barreled shotgun up until the speech he gave just before going back outside in The Unforgiven.

And Sean Connery declaimed that "It takes an Irishman to play the pipes!"

My favorite scene is the roof-top standoff in Gunga Din. I've never seen the villain-explains-his-diabolical-plan speech done better. Whoever played the Guru should have won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Many great scenes to choose from-a couple of favorites;

1. Apocalypse Now-
a."I love the smell of napalm in the morning".
b. "the horror, the horror".

2. Gladiator-
"I will have my vengeance in this life or the next"
Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies.

The Guru was Sam Jaffey. He played Dr.Kildare" mentor. The TV show.

The scene in She wore a yellow ribbon. John Wayne looking at his new watch the C troop leave. He looks around sheepishly as he takes out his glasses.

There are about 2 dozen scenes in 1941 From fueling up the P-40 in death valley, to Stillwell watching Dumbo
Your never Lost if you don't care where you are.

The Beast had a lot of memorable scenes and lines. The opening when the Russians are dismounted and destroying the village. Then they remove their gasmasks and one realizes hey these are the protagonists

And the ending:

"Sorry, sir. Not much of a war. No Stalingrad. . . . How's it that we're the Nazis this time? . . . You can't be a good soldier in a rotten war. I want you to live to see them win."

Full name is The Beast of War. I totally agree that this is a good movie and almost nobody knows about it.

Actually is was another line from that movie that I recall, "they don't call him 'lucky Ned Pepper' for nothing !".
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

It is a good movie, from a different and interesting perspective ( at least from my point of view ).

In Where Eagles Dare, when Lieutenant Shaffer (played by Clint Eastwood) said, when he climbed in the window of the Schloss Adler (Eagles Nest): "Major (referring to Richard Burton's character), you sure have a lot of women stashed in this country." Just one of many great scenes from this movie (which I saw in the moviehouses 40 years ago as a teen).

Clint Eastwood in Josey Wales "You gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?"

I too like the scene at the end of Unforgiven.

X Men one, where Wolverine comes back in, but Cyclops isn't sure it is him, and says, "Prove it." Wolverines response was classic.

Numerous movie scenes mentioned above too.

Phone booth

[the Caller cocks his gun]
The Caller: Now doesn't that just torque your jaws? I love that. You know like in the movies just as the good guy is about to kill the bad guy, he cocks his gun. Now why didn't he have it cocked? Because that sound is scary. It's cool, isn't it?
