Leckie goes down for a penalty.... rightly not given, a bit of a dive and the ref is having none of it.

Into the final 10. The Dutch look more likely to score here.....

The excellent Dutch fans sense it too. They break out into a chorus of their equally excellent national anthem [&o]

All over...

You have to say, Australia have done themselves proud here. The worst ranked team in the tournament have given us two really entertaining games [&o] Great to see them in their PROPER colours too - the famous Gold and Green [:)]

Well done to the Dutch who are all but guaranteed a last 32 berth.

Interesting factoid

Holland have scored as many goals - 8 - as Spain scored to win the World Cup four years ago [X(]

This world cup is one of the most entertaining for a long while. Sad for the Aussies but another great game of football.

Best wishes,
Steve

Great goals for Chile.

Spain doesn't want to win, doesn't want to play.

Spain 0 Chile 2

We are about to see what the World Champions are made of. Are they going out with a whimper? Have they any pride left? It will be an interesting second half. They have absolutely nothing to lose.

Best wishes,
Steve

Chile are good value for the lead. First goal was an excellent team goal. Spain - and Alonso in particular - have been poor - no that's not right. Spain have been poor - Alonso has been abject.

Decent pressure from Spain at the start of the half - but they NEED to make it count or I can see Chile sneaking another....

Spain doesn't want to win, doesn't want to play.

Agreed.
They are going out from this World Cup without playing...

If they do, that's 3 times in 4 World Cups that the defending champions have gone out at the group stage in the very next tournament [X(]

France 2002, Italy 2010 and Spain 2014

Strange.

Maybe they lose that hunger for the trophy since they have won it.
