These units were isolated this turn and I deliberate attacked to cause as many losses(POWs) as possible. So 239, 4 guns, and 3 tanks will make it out of the isolated pocket to form the new nucleus of the two Soviet units that come back for the Soviets if I am understanding you correctly. Correct?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Correct, which would make post #180 picture rule 23.12.4 incorrect written as, "if the unit was isolated all the ground elements are captured"

I was only partially remembering in the earlier post.

2 situations:

a) unit dies due to shatter/surrender but not surrounded, damaged captured, rest has a chance
b) unit dies to shatter/surrender, all captured

You can probably track this in the losses screen - just rely on the last battle column, there maybe some contanimation due to displacement losses but they shouldn't alter the key data

so I'd say that 23.12.4 is correct. If I recall that is one of the rules that just came across from the WiTW manual (& plausibly from WiTE1 too)

Once the patch is available today I will update and send over to Guctony later today. Once I have turn 4 back I will update the AAR.

There is always a chance of a few men escaping, even if isolated. In one recent attack on turn 2, of 10900 men, 25 escaped the surrender and made there way to the pool (with 1 gun).

I have updated to new patch and finalizing the turn to send this over to Guctony shortly. I will update the rest of Turn 3 AAR once I get turn 4 back but I wanted to share this snapshot with you of the advance this turn.

You will see that I really did not push deep into the Soviet Union this turn. Could I have gone deep into the Soviet Union? Seems like I could since I saw no counter pops on the map. But I am choosing to to keep my Army in top fighting condition. Only around Gomel did I make a concentrated push. I also have a dash for Tallinn in the North because I felt it necessary. The rest of the army has a steady pace keeping within a reasonable distance to depots to supply them. I figure I have 12 turns I get to push east. If I take 4 to 5 hexes a turn times 12 it will give me a rough estimate of 48 hexes further east by the time heavy mud sets in. Give or take stiff defenses and nice surrounds of course. Maybe I am wrong in my thinking but my precursor game with Jubjub has played out really well so far using this strat since it looks like I tipped the scale in that game with constant pressure. I plan on doing the same in this game. The Soviets can fight for a bit & run for a bit but the Germans will eventually catch up to them. Once the Soviets have to fight the Germans are ready instead of over extended, exhausted, and retreating from concentrated attacks.

Now most of my PZ's and Moto and my Infantry aren't exhausted for my next push. Plus they have supply. /off soapbox
