MA42 i9: Axis Actions

Sorry for the image quality. With my screen capture routine, with this window (and a few other, but not most) if I hit the alt key when in focus, the window closes, so I cannot just capture it. I have to capture both monitors and then crop. This results in pixelation.

MA42 i9:
Italian naval moves is with the transport in Albania. First to the Italian Coast, where I assumed the CW would intercept and I used the Hawkins for this attempt. They managed to roll the 2 and intercept. The transport, then decided to stop in the 0-box.

MA42 i9: Naval Combats
Italy does not initiate in N. Atlantic nor the Italian Coast.
They do initiate in BoB. Germans had flown out fighter in the Naval Air Phase and now react out a second reinforcing fighter. Though it is all for naught with search rolls of 6/6.

In the E. Med, the Italian fighter initiates. I reacted the CW Spitfire out to the 0-box. With search rolls of 5/5,the axis 3 & 4 boxes find (NAV and CP bonuses).

I have 5 SP and use 4 SP to make it a surface battle.
CW takes 2D A. I made application decisions and thought it would be best to try and keep the CP and potentially the BC in the zone by taking both D's on the Yugo CA. It worked, though the CA was sunk.
The Italians promptly aborted two CA including the one carrying the division.

I am assuming you will stay for round 2.

The CW had the chance to initiate in two zones.
First in the Arabian Sea, where the Japanese have flown the Beatty out to the 4-box. I assumed you would not initiate here.

In the Italian Coast I assumed you would search. The Italian short range bomber joined the transport in the 0-box.
Searches were 6/8, so no contact was made.

MA42 i9: Land Attacks.
Every axis power makes attacks. The three Japanese attacks are all automatic and Manila falls.

MA42 i9: Land Attacks
The Euro Axis make two attacks and surprisingly it is the Italians who make use of armor and needed every bonus they got. The actually blitz an extra hex ahead with the MECH as well.

The previous impulse move of the American transport fleet into the North Sea, unloaded, has me perplexed. In response I railed a few more units into Denmark and have started some shuffling of the local defense.

Another interesting item, is the movement of two CW CP's into the Arctic Ocean, with no CP's in the Norwegian Sea. Perhaps they will arrive later.

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1942. Allied #11. USSR, Asia Front.

Interesting. The Soviets and Japanese have a non-aggression pact in place through to the end of turn 18 (Jul/Aug 1942). The Japanese troop build up on the Manchurian-Soviet border indicates that the peace between the Japanese and Soviet won't continue past then.

Honestly, I shouldn't have made the pact in the first place, which also included a promise by the Soviets not to invade Persia. The result is that Japan took out China without fear of Soviet intervention which the Soviets set twiddling their thumbs. A lesson learned for me is that the survival of China will depend on a credible threat to the Japanese from the Soviets and at times require direct intervention (i.e., Soviet DOW on Japan).
