I haven't seen anyone mention the score from the "Victory at Sea" series.  That would be the best and most fitting music for this game, hands down.  And at this point, there's a good chance it's public domain due to it's age.

I hope they are gonna put some different music in there. The Japanese music is allright but maybe they could put Anchors Aweigh and The marine hymn in there.

Of all the problems of WITP, why would you want them to waste their limited time on something you can fix yourself by turning the sound off and turning on a radio or a CD player?

Maybe becasue some people want a complete product when they pay for it and don't want to have to take extraneous steps to correct the things "wrong" with the product.....just a guess on my part.

Seconded. PC gaming is inherently about sights and sounds. I played with music on until I couldn't stand the repeats any longer. A simple ability to drop MP3s into a game folder and launch them from inside the interface, as multiple games have done for a decade now, would allow variety and avoid copyright issues for the publishers.

I think some Big Band music from the era would be appropo....or maybe some "Tokyo Rose" clips.

In my test WITP-AE play against AI i just captured Guam as Japs.. and... I've heard Tokyo Rose! [&:]
Was it real or I am just a crazy WITP-AE maniac hearing "things"? [:D]

It has been my distinct displeasure to hear Tokyo Rose twice in the past two game turns. The first when Hong Kong fell and the second when Guam fell. You may be crazy but you are not, "hearing things." [:)]

I asked a music question in a thread long buried. Here is the response from wdolson:
Yes. In the sound folder files 1025.SFX to 1034.SFX are the music files. The suffix has been changed, but they are actually in a standard Windows format. I think they are WAV files (I forget at this point). The game engine isn't too picky about the file format as long as they have those names. I know for sure WAV and MP3 files work just fine (I tested both).

Take your MP3s, rename them somewhere in the range 1025.SFX to 1034.SFX, copy them over the files that are there, and your own music will play. This will work for WitP too BTW, though 1034.SFX won't work in WitP.

Bill

Not sure if .wav files work, but renaming .wma files to .SFX files does work. I can hear my VaS music (10 tracks anyway) just fine while playing [:D]

fred8615 at the Silent Hunter 4 forums has a ton of terrific, downloadable stuff:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=119668

I am able to listen to wartime radio, from any of several stations, while I sink 'em all.

MP3 all, just fire up winamp or whatever.

...well, seems like everyone who owns WITP/WITP-AE is trying to download from there now, or the site is just...slow (est download time for a ~270MB file is 72+hrs!). [&:]

Heh, no kidding. I've had decent download speeds before, but that was a while ago. Maybe he has a cap on each connection. There are a lot of GB there to get.

I would love som ww2 theme radio stuff like commercials and news there too. Pacific general had it and it was brilliant.

I loved that in Pacific General.

(I didn't like a number of things in Pacific General, but the themed music, news, etc was well done).

Perhaps I am all alone.

I usually listen to talk radio while playing.

Other than the Tokyo Rose broadcasts, I couldn't tell you what the AE music was like.

I'll take my rock and electronica music over WWII period music any day. I just listen to my iTunes while playing AE.

I checked out one of those links above and found an interesting little tune I had never heard before.

It will no doubt be special for any JFB's

Enjoy! [;)]

...just noticed this from the Subsim/fred8615 thread:
Just wanted to let everyone know that BtS Mods is having server issues at this time. While you can still download, it's a bit slow. Because of the size of my radio and music files, I've been asked not to post them here, so they're only available there. I will post when the issue is resolved.
