No matter how much forum members try to pry info about CF out of the development team it just isn't happening for whatever reason.

I don´t think anyone is trying to pry tocaff. Mike Wood made the offer for week or so updates. I don´t see what you find so inflammatory here. It´s been 2 months. I think the doubts are fair enough.

But as you yourself said and flipperwasirish echoed, CF is obviously a project that one must just take this as it comes. I don´t see the productive side to asking anything, or making comments about it.

If it is ever released, it´s released. If it isn´t, it isn´t.

Have a good weekend.

WOW!  I can't believe it!  Ike is acting in a rational way.  I'm stunned.

I think that updates, like from the AE team, would be nice but if not....hohum.

Hello...

Joel suggested that I post only when I have something to post and that every week might be too often. Am currently finishing up PBEM.

Bye...

Hello...

Some of you may have been wondering when we would be releasing Carrier Force (CF). Well, progress slowed a bit over the holidays, but the development team is working full time on the project, once again. We have a testing alpha copy almost ready. Still pretty buggy, but playable.

The main delay has been the nature of the game. Although it looks a lot like Uncommon Valor or War in the Pacific, the underlying code is quite different. The turns are 15 minutes, in tactical combat. The map scale is smaller. The computer opponent had to be brought up to speed on these differences. The interface has had a number of new screens added. A lot of the aerial code has been rewritten, as tactical level air to air combat is different than the once per day - all planes assigned to a base - free for all. The naval engagement rules have changed a lot and it is no longer an easy task for a slow, unescorted transport fleet to disengage and head for home, when pursued by fast combat task forces. It is really a new and different game.

Still working on interface for land based air groups and adding new features, options and new data display. Still modifying air to air system to allow for climb rates, and pilot skills (there are now a number of them) and pilot experience in different areas. Have to add the new fatigue and disruption rules for ships, too. Haven't added PBEM system, yet. Just finished new editor, today, to add a number of useful items to database. Need to add those into game code.

Will try to post, once a week or so, with updates on progress. Hesitate to post screen shots until all new art comes in.

Hope this Helps...

That was what I figured the situation to be. Please keep at it.

So if there's something to report it will be reported.  Sort of like if there's nothing constructive to say, say nothing.

Funny how you see the news of CF's demise as vindication of your earlier 'opinions'. The fact of the matter is you knew as much as anyone else, programmers included, so the "I told you so" routine holds no water.

I don´t see this announcement as vindication of my earlier opinions.

It IS vindication of everything I said about Carrier Farce.

Yes. I told you so. It holds a lot of water. So much water you sound like you need to start looking for a life preserver because your drowning in all the water it is holding.

Can everyone here say ¨vaporware¨ now???

Well, not me, but I was looking forward to this title.

However, after (finally) buying the stand alone WitP:AE -- that comes with at least one 'Canal scenario -- and HP's Midway, I feel somewhat satiated.

it woudl be nice if Matrix did to this game what they did to WiTP. release an upgrade that adds some of the WiTp features, removes some bugs, but leaves the smaller scale and thus more quickly playable game than WiTP.

It's really disapointing to read this as the game and features they spoke about seemed to hold much promise. On my end I believe the developers missed the boat, the right thing to do would have been to come out and tell people the project has been either cancelled or put on hold instead of leaving people in the dark. I tried to email Justin awhile back regarding CF and the email was returned to sender I figured the project was no longer being worked on by atleast him.

I would be very interested if they did this.

Sadly, I have little hope that either 2*3 or Henderson Field Designs would attempt this project anytime soon if ever.

But note the WitP/AE annoucement in the UV forum; long ago UV players had the distinct impression that matrix was moving us all into WitP the way MS would discourage the use of an older OS by no longer servicing it.
