Surrender!

Post by Belisarius »

Well, I didn't even bother to play my turn - I surrendered outright. I had about 5 squads left answering to my calls.

An analysis of this battle might be valuable, but right now I don't really care. Two things defeated me: 1) the map. I hated it the moment I saw it. It's no Brit's playground we had. 2) Artillery. Brits morale suck a$$, once they got caught it was no problem keeping them pinned down for the remainder of the battle.

Then again, I could have deployed differently etc etc etc but in the end I don't think there'd been a difference. I did not have the flexibility nor speed to do anything useful.

OOB:

1x Firefly sect (wanted a Firefly as B0)
3x medium tank troops (paper Shermans ;) )
2x Churchill VII troops
2x Infantry scout platoons
3x Infantry companies
2x Infantry AT sections
1x 17pdr AT platoon + trucks (3)
3x SPAA M16 MGMC bty
3x Commando platoon (2 squads infiltrated! :( )
2x Infantry platoons
3x FO
1x 155 bty (last time - now on, I will never enter battle without 4 of these)
2x 81mm SP mortar platoons
6x Snipers

reinforcements:

3x 5.5" Howitzer batteries (see:above)
3x Firefly sections

Wow, it's all over after just ten turns. This seemed a bit too easy - care for a rematch?

The map and battle setup was definetely in my favour. But at the end the artillery and low british morale saved the day :)

My OOB

1x Jagdpanther platoon
1x Panther G platoon
1x Tiger IE Late platoon
1x StuH 42 platoon
1x Brummbaer section
10x Scout team platoon (3 teams each)
3x 150mm battery
3x 105mm battery
2x PzA II Wespe platoon
1x Ammo truck section
2x FO
1x 75mm Mot AT-gun platoon
2x 20mm FlaKvirling platoon (Just in case ;) )
1x SS Mech platoon
2x SS Rifle platoon (Spec ops were included in these)
1x Rifle platoon
9x Sniper
2x Ju52/3m (Paradropped 4 snipers to the rear)

Reinforcements
1x Konigstiger section
1x PzIVh platoon
2x Scout team platoon

The situation on the central hill seemed critical at moments, so I called in AUX tanks to deal with the Churchills. They weren't fast enough to reach the battlezone before his surrender. I put a scout team on all of my tanks.

The losses (Germans first)
Men : 189 - 301
Artillery : 1 - 0
Soft vehicles: 0 - 0
APCs : 1 - 0
AFVs : 4 - 19

Tea will be served at the POW camp :D

Some screenshots coming up!

And finally the northern sector. The VHs were all really close and I got to them on the very first turn.
