The infantry sqads were deployed 2 - 3 hexes apart to disperse arty effects and the med tanks were 3 - 6 hexes behind providing over watch. The attached M-16's generally didn't move, to save shots for incoming aircraft.

Armored Reserve - 1 platoon M-18 Hellcats

Hellcats have the speed to reach any threatened sector and seal off breakthroughs. I kept them well back to watch for infiltrators and paradrops, until his Yaks and Sturmovichs spotted them.

I was somewhat dubious of these monsters, but who can resist.
Speed 8, so I put 'em on the main east-west roads right up front.
Other than providing a sponge to soak up some of his fire, they had no bearing on the battle.

16 60mm Jeeps - deployed as airstrike bait. More useful than trucks and almost as cheap. This tactic exceeded my expectations.

Deployed near the south edge, I hoped to sneak past his flank after smoking him in and using the Uhu's IR to get some flank shots. Ya' gotta love Hetzers, lotta bang for the buck. Flammewagens to keep infantry away.

Strike Units

The Airforce carried the day. I counted 26 combined kills. In comparison my armored units had 5 combined kills. I also had a M-16 score 2 kills against his air units.

M4 Jess took pity on this poor newbie and spotted me 2,000 points. Since our forces were never fully engaged, it was never an issue. The qualitative superiority of the US units, especially the AF, was devastating. M4 is an officer and a gentleman, and to his credit, he took it like man. I would have to admit that if I were in his shoes I wouldn't have done any better.
