Ok, was able to reproduce from the enclosed sav file. Here is what I did:

1) I closed the Auto Air directive Creation screen by 'X'ing it.
2) Checked the Air Groups CR - unmatched HQs - there were none.
3) I clicked the AI (auto air directive) button from the tool bar and pressed execute without any other changes
4) Checked the Air Groups CR - unmatched HQs and found 6 groups at Hawkinge now unmatched

I tried it several times and was able to recreate. I tried execution from the Auto AD screen that first popped up when I opened the saved game and the unmatched HQs did NOT show up. So it seems to be originating from the AI button in the toolbar.

I followed your instructions as best I could but Hawkinge remained attached to RAF Ftr Command. I received another save game with airbase switching, but it didn't repeat for me. In this case the player said he thought the airbases changed command attachment during the execution phase, not the logistics phase, so there must be another way they are switching that is unpredictable and still out there.

Actually I'm using a 1.00.13. I'll look to see if I have a 1.00.11 to run it on.

I'm getting murdered with automatic air base changes, mainly involving Ninth Air Force and 2nd Tactical. I figured this will be fixed eventually, so I haven't complained. But what really concerns me is that I'm running 1.00.08, which I thought was the latest version. Everyone else seems to be running 1.00.11 or 1.00.13, which I cannot find. When I use the search for upgrade feature it reloads 1.00.08. Sigh, the rest of the world seems to be leaving me behind. This must be how those Gladiator pilots felt during the Battle of Britain, wondering why they were stuck with biplanes while everybody else had a Hurricane or a Spit. Oh well, I could be stuck with a Defiant, I guess...

I am strongly suspecting it is related to using the AI Auto Air Directive button. I have been checking the CR Air screen for unmatched status before and after any air phase. As long as I managed my AD's manually, no problem. But after I stood down the 8th and 9th and RAF in Britain for bad weather, the next turn I used the AI Auto AD Button to kickstart my air missions. I checked the CR and, sure enough, Hawkinge changed ownership. I will continue to test this in additional turns, but would suggest that the focus be on what the AI Auto AD processing is doing.

It can be manged by using the CR Air screen at the beginning and end of the Air Directive phase and either changing the base ownership back - or moving the groups/squadrons out of the offending base.

So far I have not noticed any base ownership changes happening during the air execution phase, only the Auto AD phase.

So it's not happening in the execution phase, you think it is happening during the planning phase when you use the auto AD creation mechanism?

Yes in the AUTO AD phase. It has happened consistently there, never saw a change during execution phase.

Did some more testing and can confirm that it happens only in air planning phase and only after using the AI Auto AD creation execution button

Yup. That's it. Load the game, check the airfield headquarters, immediately have the AI set air directives and PLOWIE! several airbases have changed headquarters.

Yes every time you have the AI set directives, you have to go back and reset a number of airfields to their original owners.
In my games it is always the same airfields, so I know where to look. I am not sure if this is on the bugs to be fixed list.
