Frank Hunter's Campaigns on the Danube is an operational study of the campaigns along the Danube in 1805 and 1809. Campaigns on the Danube's system focuses on trying to present the player with the same sort of decisions placed on their historical counterparts; how to feed an army and move that army according to a plan, all the while trying to fight a campaign. There is also an option to allow players to play out the battles with miniatures and input the results.

Looking forward to the patch. Still a great game.

Frank's game Campaigns of La Grande Armee had an editor. Could one like that be made available for this game?

I wish Frank would release the new 1806 Napoleonic game.

If the patch is good, I am going to be doing a PBM game where we will use miniatures and will be fighting all the battles using SOW Napoleonic Mod. So, several players will get involved with the battles. Will be good exposure. Especially, with the new SOW game Waterloo coming out in June.

It would be nice to have way-points.

Instead of being able to set way-points in a single order what you can do is use the "Additional" button when sending orders, that way the current order isn't cancelled and the new order is pursued only after the current order is finished. Its more work but is pretty much the same as having way-points.

Eagerly waiting for the next patch, the crash with battle and confusing unit icon allocation makes it difficult, but it is good enough for practice games.

Enough to get a taste of how the game can be, with a very different 'feel' from most games. Not just ploughing counters around a map, this has the uncertainty and vagaries of the characters of a real army.

Sent orders to Davout, which would have closed the ring around a Coalition army, to see him take his whole corps off in a different direction and capture Klattau, seizing 1700+ enemy supply points. Enough supplies to feed the army on the way to Vienna.

So what do I do, break him to the ranks for disobeying orders, or shower him with new honours, for making the next round of advances possible.

Nice to have an old favourite back, when it's fixed, it will be even better with the update. [:)]

In some scenarios infantry units have the icon of cav units!
Always eager to have the patch, i would buy another copy to do a gift, hoping to have new opponents, but i would give a patched game!
Anyway, a very beautiful game

And art units have cav icons, and viceversa.
Fog of war? It seems too much ...

I'm uploading it in about an hour from now. Tamas says he will try and make it available as soon as he can.

A lot of interest remains with this game.

Free set up option would help out the games' replay ability.

Frank, I love editors too.

the game is utterly unique and is perhaps the truest representation of operational strategy available on computer

Yes, I agree.

altrnatives are osg-zucker games, x1 x2 etc campaign, or campaign rules for miniatures, i think.
But I have no time and no space for them

True
Playing with miniatures is the best
I'VE a xv century ottoman turks+serbian ally army - 15 mm .... wonderful, and very exciting to play with

But now... moneys are a problem, time to play and paint them is a problem, space is a problem too.

RCH, if there's anything you or anyone else would like to see in an editor for these games, let me know.

Frank,

Your 1806 game had an editor. That was a great editor. It would be nice to be able to edit games that were already in play, but I don't know how it would be kept honest in a pbem game.

I don't even remember my 1806 editor... :)

I could protect PBEM games by simply checking to see if it is a PBEM game.
