I am done with Civ games until we get stacking back. Civ 4 is the best of the lots, especially with mods like Caveman-to-Cosmos.

I am enjoying Beyond Earth a lot, but I do want stacking back.

I was thinking for stacking, instead of one unit per hex, they could do splash damage, which I think was in Civ 4, and maybe increased maintenance or reduced fighting efficiency if there are too many units in a hex. Maybe that number could be adjusted by tech increases. I'm sure other games have similar mechanics.

Mostly I'd just like to see the AI not be brain dead fighting wars.

I will probably do as I did with Civ 5: wait about four years until the cycle of "expansion" and "DLC" (read "minimal publishable-profit maximizing units") is clearly over, the game has been played by hundreds of thousands and the most annoying bugs are identified and largely patched out in official patches and modding communities have had a chance to mature.

I find with modern games, at least those produced by these bigger studios, if I just wait about 4 years and then keep my eye open for a bit of a sale, I get the actual ENTIRE and actual COMPLETE game for about half the unit cost paid by pioneer consumers for each individual "DLC."

I'm also waiting for Matrix/Slitherine to redo their pricing structure with some fairly complex math: ([current prices / 2.5] * [0.15 of current revenues spent on advertising and outreach] = Volume and profit increase of X% (where X equals some number between 5 and 100 which I'm sure you need a degree in finance and/or marketing to be able to know [:D]). You might say I'll die before I get what I'm waiting for, but there was a day and age when Matrix seemed to be quite averse to being on Steam and now DW: Universe is on there so maybe one day pigs will sprout wings and fly!
The x-ray is her siren song. My ship cannot resist her long. Nearer to my deadly goal. Until the black hole. Gains control...

Well I am glad I didn't pay full price for this game, it look nice and sound great, but defending the city/outpost seem out of wrack. All they need to do is remove combat strength from city/outpost and keep the hit points as defensive barriers and whatever you want to defend it with.

So I may not play this game anymore, doubtfully if this can be mod to fix this issue that need to be corrected, probably hard coded. Least I can use the soundtracks for Distant Worlds.
