Thank you very much!

Hmmh, I'm quite sure that I once tried the North route but I'm not sure, so I will give it another try:
-> go North
-> stay West

Update:
Yesterday I had the convoy right in front of me - yeah! Quite many ships in it! In fact more than I could sink...

I see that you must economize torps and missiles, which at first I didn't. However, the escorts and some container ships were sunk and I stayed alive after all. And most important I had fun!

Great scenario!

Sorry to Necro this thread but I saw the Author is still active here so I thought I would give it a try:

Maybe it would be worth tightening the ROE on the nukes for the Nato side a bit. I ran into an issue after stumbling into the friendly UK sub where it seems the NATO and player now get awareness of eachothers positions, but the GOBLIN contact on my sub isnt removed for the NATO side after this. The results of which are that the Nimrods flying the Nimrod promptly make a beeline to your exact position and drop a nuke on your head. The editor showed the last detection of the Goblin contact was 6 hrs earlier when I ran into the friendly sub. It seems the UNK contact gets glued to the friendly one, regardless of whether its detected again or not.

My only other comment is that I did basically the same as Gunner98 above: detected and sunk the victor, figured he was screening the convoy which led me into the friendly sub. Im not sure if the ambiguity is intentional or not but I interpreted the briefing as "ENY convoy can be anywhere in the strait, the whole area is yours to search... by the way there is a friendly sub out there as well, dont kill him by accident." rather than "There is a friendly sub out there covering the eastern side of the strait, you are to patrol the west side". If the latter is the intent and its not supposed to be part of the puzzle then I think it could be made clearer by some RPs designating the limit of the players patrol area.

I probably meant to make it ambiguous--it's so long ago, I honestly don't remember--but I'll take a look at it.

Yeah I think the ambiguity isnt such a huge deal. Even if you dont go the (in hindsight) logical way of leaving the eastern zone to the other sub to patrol, you will get the radar contacts from the nimrod to help your search after finding the friendly sub.

I liked the idea of having to try and deconflict in order to avoid being killed by friendlys... Its just a bit gamebreaking when the Nimrod is all knowing and that trigger happy.
