Like that one zak posted, plus two from from paradox (Hearts of Iron III, dunno if I will like it but this one Stellaris have my eyes on this one for sometime). https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/in ... ts.895923/

On WWII in the Pacific, wanted something that show up in tactical in 3D showing all sides what it would look like, not controlling the units, but watching the commanders carry out the battles. WitP:AE almost had it, but just lefted out some good stuffs to polish it.

Also would like to see Pax Imperia https://www.gog.com/game/pax_imperia_eminent_domain remade, that game bring back some good ol days back then when I was young.

Also like to see this game remade too http://www.tacticularcancer.com/content.php?id=4328 best civilization game ever, just horrible graphics and setup.

Of course let me be the first to reply - Ha

I would take a good Science Fiction realistic interstellar war game. No historical outcome to model. Keep realism as high as possible (after you suspend your disbelief on FTL travel). My gut would be to use a wormhole style FTL movement or Warp drives, since now days both are theoretically possible (with a lot of advancements). At least they don't violate any of Einsteins laws.
I'd have to argue the theorically possible bit, if one takes into account the energy cost. But let's just leave it as suspend belief.

The one thing with realistic science fiction is that with every significant advancement it geometically increases the ways they will alter the ways people deal with it. Look at what's going on now with drones. Just think about ST transporter technology. Ok, the transporting of people. But what about practical jokes? The old dog poop in a flaming paper bag on the front porch trick would have all sorts of new twists. Can you see kids using this technology?

War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition using hourly turns that would run continuously until interrupted for order-giving. Such a game was made for Apple II/C64 but covers only the South Pacific.

I often do thought experiments on how society would be like in the future, children included. I would imagine between our present culture and knowledge base and a society say 200 to 300 years in the future, we probably would be like ancient Spaniards and modern culture. They (the Spaniards) would be totally lost in today's culture. I figure routine spaceflight between stars needs 3 things worked out. 1)FTL drives 2) Adequate protection for highly energetic particles (cosmic rays et all) 3) protection from the deleterious effects of micro-gravity. If you can suspend your disbelief on the FTL the other two are workable with expanding known avenues of today's science.

I do the same. My thinking is that more and more parts of the human body can and will be replaced by machine as they wear out naturally (think 6 million dollar man, or the Borg in Star Trek). Really the only thing a human needs to keep is the brain, brain stem, and spinal cord. I remember a part in one of the Star Trek Next Generation movies involving the Borg...forget which one where the Borg representative/leader female head and spinal cord is descending from somewhere above and into her awaiting body below. This kind of set up will greatly reduce the problems with cosmic rays and especially gravity. We could also live for as long as the brain can live (1,000 years +?). That would also solve the problem with long distance interstellar travel...if you can go 10% the speed of light, it would take you 40 years to get to the Alpha Centauri system of stars...what's 40 years to someone who lives a thousand?

Why the Spaniards? I guess that all depends on which human culture. I see it more like the Pilgrims that arrived to America, or even Jamestown settlers. If there are pleasant habitable Earthlike planets nearby and humans that can make it there due to medical technology, I see them leaving Earth's problems and creating new society's. Probably planets founded on philosophies and religions and most likely allowing only like-minded people to go there.

Also, as for cosmic rays, I read something a while back where H2O (a certain deepness) can help...probably also involving some kind of magnetic field. Imagine a multiple hulled submarine in space with H2O in between the hulls...not only to be used against cosmic rays, but also for fuel, drinking, etc... We pretty much already have all this tech...we just need to work on the human body, and speed up space travel a bit. If we found a habitable planet nearby I think the human race would advance pretty quickly to get us there ASAP.

American Civil War/ Austro-Prussian/ Franco Prussian tactical level game. Play as the regimental/brigade commander. Company sized units, with an ability to specify company frontages/ depths, adjustable rate of fire, speed of march on the advance. An experience coefficent for morale/suppression value (veterans can take a lot more punishement than green troops).
Selectable artillery ammunition, and rate of fire.
I'd rather see it hex based than 3 D. Old style stacking limits would be replaced by availabe frontage (if its a 50 meter hex and you specify 50 meter frontage for a company, any other unit is behind the first with the attendent LOS issues).
and command delay, must have command delay.

Build it and I will come,[&o]

A billionaire like Bill Gates turns out to be a mad keen wargamer. Hires a large team of top programers to build a WWII simulation at Battalion scale and then hires hundreds of gamers (including me)on a decent annual salary to play out WWII in real time.
Well you did say fantasy :)

Timmyab: be careful what you wish for, especially if the simulation includes the possibility of WITE style arrest, dismissal, and execution of commanders who earn the ire of Hitler or Stalin. [:D]

Grognerd: Where in Florida are you?

If I win the Powerball lottery, I'll hire all my wargaming buddies to play every day...maybe start a development company, maybe buy Matrix and turn this ship in the right direction.

Well you'll have to ask Bill Gates about that, he's calling the shots, not me. Knowing my luck he wouldn't even hire me in my fantasy :)

I do that too. In trying to make a coherent system to approach a story line. One of the things that are mundane but is very important. How do you transfer money? What do you use for money? Do all these space colonies use the same currency? We have electronic money these days which moves at the speed of light. That is too slow for interstellar travel. It is perfect weather for check kiting.
Is every ship going to have its own bank vault with gold and silver? There might be gold asteroids out there that would upset the balance. Federation Reserve notes might not be worth anything 300 LY from earth. Even on another Federation planet.

You start off with a ship building/design simulator like in Rule the Waves. You build a fleet. Then you fight with it using the War in the Pacific AE game engine. There would also of course be an aircraft design simulator and you would be able to design your own LCUs to fight the ground campaign.
So what you want is unit editor for WitP:AE?

More than that. Basically it would be like the game Rule the Waves where you have a relatively historically realistic budget and using that budget and a fairly realistic ship design program along the lines of Springsharp, you design and build ships to populate your hypothetical navy and then fight against your opponent with the military units you've designed and created on your budget.
