Can China ask for peace with Japan? And if so, can Japan accept?

TO ernieschwitz: Are these timers in the game or do we do the timers?

These timers are not in the game (yet)... But it is my intention they should be after some playtesting with those rules.

China and Japan are locked in a bitter war. They cannot make peace with each other.

Hi. Question:
Are officers suppose to be in this version? I don't remember seeing any...have to double check next turn. My turn is taking a long time to upload...don't know why.

EDIT: Found them.

Question: why are the house rules preventing any nation from declaring war on anyone. I don't want to play a game where one follows the historical record, but one where you change history. In my opinion, if you follow history and do not change it, it makes for a boring game, just saying.

I do agree with you that preventing someone in attacking another with house rules is constraining. However, those are Bombur's rules. My rules are a lot free'er.

However, a caveat, I have blocked some regimes from interacting diplomatically with other regimes before certain events come into play. For instance, it would be neigh impossible for USA to join anyone before certain events happened to end it's isolationism. This allows me to make a complex and interesting set of events that fire, and makes it not at all tedious to play USA, while waiting for a time when you can act. (I hope). So with more constraint actually comes more complexity.

In general I like some freedom of action, but not full freedom of action. If you want free for all type of games (which in my oppinion are very ahistorical), then play one of those. If you want some amount of reasonable variants of history, don't worry, the game allows for that. If you wanted a free for all, you are welcome to, once the scenario comes out, to mod it to your hearts desire.

Let me explain the house rules.
1-I created the house rules for GD1938v2 to allow for a 2 player game with cpdeyoung, I was also intending to do some experiences with house rules to see if we develop a more historical game.
2-I agree that, maybe, a sandbox game would be a good choice for a game where we have one player rulinh one regime, however, it´s almost impossble to have an 8 player game, as the number of players decrease, a sandbox game is less and less feasible
3-For some strange reason, house rules became too popular with players. I believe my set of house rules is not perfect and must be modified for games involving more than 2 players.
4-House rules are optional, however, some of them were already hardcoded by ernie. There is nothing preventing you from playing without them. For now, the game is in development and we didn´t even defined victory criteria.
