There will be a Steam (and GOG) release on the 14th July.

Though if you buy on Matrix, when the game comes out on Steam you'll be given a Steam key to add it to your library there.

Also note that the 10% launch discount only lasts until the 4th July.

Thanks for the quick response. I mainly want to avoid a box being shipped around the globe, for which I have neither use nor space. Or is there just no box shipped, if I don't check the DX checkmark? This is not super clear to me ... especially because it asks me for a shipping adress right after.

That makes sense, and only if you tick the Upgrade to Physical + Digital Edition box would a copy be posted to you, otherwise it's just a digital download.

Strategic Command: American Civil War was barely announced when it immediately ended up on my wishlist!
This is to say how much I appreciate the Strategic Command series. In fact since its very first version (SC: European Theater, 2002) then in the following variations (WW1 & WW2) more or less appreciated with their square grid, but acclaimed again with the return to hexagons. Released on June 30, I immediately bought it in digital and physical version - it's my way of supporting independent creators and publishers.

I had a question to ask about the Steam version but Bill Runacre has already answered the one posed by Laurenz above!

To answer AndySfromVA, what I appreciate above all in the SC series is the perfect balance (IMHO) maintained between:
- playability (games of reasonable length);
- historic atmosphere (no excessive micro-management);
- comfort and aesthetic pleasure (UI, event and decision panels, cards, pawns or figurines);
- what-ifs' and mods' integration, planned from the creation of the game.

Congratulations again to Hubert Cater, Iain McNeil and their teams. ;)
