Strategic Command: American Civil War was barely announced when it immediately ended up on my wishlist!
This is to say how much I appreciate the Strategic Command series. In fact since its very first version (SC: European Theater, 2002) then in the following variations (WW1 & WW2) more or less appreciated with their square grid, but acclaimed again with the return to hexagons. Released on June 30, I immediately bought it in digital and physical version - it's my way of supporting independent creators and publishers.
I had a question to ask about the Steam version but Bill Runacre has already answered the one posed by Laurenz above!
To answer AndySfromVA, what I appreciate above all in the SC series is the perfect balance (IMHO) maintained between:
- playability (games of reasonable length);
- historic atmosphere (no excessive micro-management);
- comfort and aesthetic pleasure (UI, event and decision panels, cards, pawns or figurines);
- what-ifs' and mods' integration, planned from the creation of the game.
Congratulations again to Hubert Cater, Iain McNeil and their teams.
