Defeating Spartacus?
Re: Defeating Spartacus?
On its way to Capua, my two legions are encountering Spartacus and his army. But the losses are limited. Four days later, this is Oenomaus' army that is in front of my troops. My general is obviously a better tactician since with 21167 men and 364 horses against an army of 29521 men and 1560 horses, Rome is only losing 6273 men.
On the other hand, 10639 men and 615 horses are lost on the other side. Strangely enough, I don't get a national morale point for this victory.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
There is no point to stay in Metapontum. I decide to come back to Brundisium while the transport fleet is sailing back to port. I am hoping to attack the army outside Tarentum in this process.
Near Capua, the second legion is in bad state. Looks like it has taken all the casualties. This is time to play the security. I prefer to withdraw, going back to Rome, to get some replacements.
In the north, the garrison of Ariminum is besieged but is resisting so far.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Fantastic! I thought I was the only one still playing, though not as frequently as before. I love the AJE series! It is probably one of the better operational series during this period and the historical research, an AGEOD trademark, in it is top notch.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
This game is my favorite game regarding this period, the best AGEOD game imo. I am playing mostly against AI. Was not sure there were still some players.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
I did not know you also played Ageod games
The pity of this series is that the team that developed it ended burned and did not complete what was thought in the beginning.
Scenarios in game or two of the fall of the Roman Empire are sadly missing, among many other interesting ones.
Ageod forum is now an empty hall, for example this request for a PBEM game did not even get an answer.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Yes, some of them but AJE a lot.
Yes this is sad. And not sure of the method to create new scenarios.

Back to the AAR.
The unit in Metapontum is fighting while moving heading back safely to Brundisium.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
I continue to buy replacements for my four legions. Meanwhile, the Slave army is assaulting Rhegium trying to reach Sicilia most probably.

The urban militia there is resisting even after a second assault.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
The scenarios themselves, events, leaders, models, units, texts... all was created in excel files.
The databases of all their games were made public, here is the ftp link if you want to take a look:

A tedious work because there is a lot of info and details in every scenario. Needless to say you have to be very motivated, you have to know how the engine works (events, etc) and you have to know history.
And sorry for messing in your AAR thread

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Not a problem, thanks a lot, I have downloaded the DB for AJE.Nikel wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 8:12 pmThe scenarios themselves, events, leaders, models, units, texts... all was created in excel files.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Crassus offers 6 legions in exchange of the Consulate. I accept. As such, I prepare a last offensive with my existing legions. My goal is to defeat the army besieging Rome.

This is a victory for Rome. But, at the same time, Spartacus is trying to take Rhegium. The garrison is resisting.

Thanks to this victory, I am pushing my four legions to Corfinium. My next objective is to capture Capua.
I just hope not to be intercepted by the slave army.

Spartacus continues his assault losing almost twice more men than the Romans. My four legions are in position ready for their assault.

The attrition battle continues around Rhegium. Spartacus is the best enemy leader out there. The AI is wasting him here.

I am crushing this rebellion. North of Rome, another slave army is showing up. This will be the first objective of our new legions.
