Allied Impulse #2

USSR DoW Persia. It aligns with Japan. Sets up CAV in Tehran.

CW Naval, France/China Land, USA/USSR Combineds.

CW protects its convoys. Subs destroy the Italian convoy in Italian Coast and abort a cruiser. In West Med, Italian BB (Littorio) and a cruiser are damaged. A CW BB (Hood) and a cruiser are damaged. The Italians abort. In the East Med, CW finds with some surprise. Italian AA is effective reducing bombs by 3 to leave 3 factors to attack its navy. Both cruisers with divs are aborted and Italy realizes how badly they mucked up the initial moves into the East Med. Ought to have waited for next impulse. Next round, Italy finds with surprise (10) and chooses a surface action. 1 Italian cruiser is damaged, for the CW, the CV Glorious and 1 cruiser are damaged, 1 cruiser aborted. 3rd round nobody finds. Loaded divs go to Tobruk for Italy...

Allied Impulse #2 con't

Allied Ground strikes... USSR uses two LND to strike Teheran CAV. CW Ground Strikes Italians on Leros in the Dodecanese with a CV plane. French GS against German hex east of Rouen with a 3 strenght Arty. CW and USSR fail while the French flip Berlin MIL of the 4 units in that hex (1 A/C).

USSR makes attack with PARA and other units on Teheran and takes the city. Persia will be conquered.

Axis Impulse #3

Weather clear everywhere except N. Monsoon.

Germany and Italy DoW on Greece in a surprise to nobody. USA could give a hoot. Greece aligns to the CW.

Naval action in St. Vincent's sees 2 aborted and 1 damaged cruiser in the 4 box for CW and 1 damaged and 1 aborted SUB for Italy with no convoys affected.

Axis GStrikes, 2 Japanese air fail to disorg and defender in Sian (3,2 factor). Italian 3 factor and German 3 factor at extended range disorganize non-Mountain defender in Athens despite surprise. German 4 and 3 factor ART NE of Paris disorganise 2 of 3 defenders.

Germany attacks the hex NE of Paris and takes the hex retreating all defenders while also 1/2 disorganising. A paradrop with invading units SE of Athens fails with the loss of all attackers. Costly indeed.

The Axis player kind of screwed up the Greece attack although it is still salvageable. Perhaps he ought to have continued clearing out the East Med with his Navs and 3-pt FTR and may then have made some attacks against unsupplied islands. Also, picking up Italian divs from the islands in the initial surprise vrs CW was not smart... they could have waited for the DoW on Greece impulse and still have been in position to make decent attacks. Landing the PARA on the island with the ATR worked well enough and the Paradrop could have worked with decent rolls. Live and Learn.

May/June 1940

Allied Impulse #4

CW and French take naval impulses. China a land. USSR/USA combineds.

Surface CW/French SUB fleet in Italian Coast get surprise 1st round and Damage 1 Italian cruiser. The French SUB is damaged. In the East Med 1st round, CW loses a CV plane while the Italian NAV is aborted. There is no 2nd round.

In the land phase, the Chinese pull back seeing the MECH DIV which will be in play very soon. Russia does maneuvers in Persia and moves a unit near Sian.

Axis Impulse #5

Weather is fine throughout with a roll of 9.

All Axis take a land impulse.

Japanese Ground Strikes flip both Sian units. German tries to flip a stack of French units surrounded on 3 sides by Germans with 2 2-bombing factor FTRs but fails.

Japan takes another Chinese city with no USA response.

Germany takes out a hex near Metz with no losses. Boulogne goes likewise. Sian loses a unit for each side and disorganizes all Japanese units involved.

Allied Impulse #6

Weather is clear everywhere.

France takes a land. Everyone else passes giving a 10% chance of EoT.

France dresses up its front line. The turn does not end.

Axis Impulse #7

Weather is clear everywhere it matters.

Germany Land, Japan/Italy Combineds.

One round of combat in the East Med seas a CW CV damaged and a cruiser aborted. There is no 2nd round. CW attempts to seek the Italian CP in the West Med but fails so supply to Italian units entering Algeria is restored.

Japan STRAT bombing in the rain draws 1 BP from China.

Air combat in France sees the loss of a French LND in attempted ground support.

A natural roll of 17 with the attack on Athens seals Germany conquest of Greece. for this turn. Germany also sees considerable success in France taking a forest hex in Northern France.

The turn continues.

Allied Impulse #8

France, seeking to fill the hole in its lines, has to take a land. Everyone else passes.

Turn ends, just making the 30% required.

May/June End of Turn Sequence:

A Burmese partisan arrives, planting itself on all the recently stored oil in Rangoon. Another Chinese partisan joins the fray, making for 3 of them now.

USA draws a chit vrs Japan. No options are selected this turn.

I wonder if three partisans is still the max number for China.

Love the input... don't know about the limit, but the 0 factor ones are going to soak losses in places where I cannot find regular units ro double-stack.

1st round in East Med sees 3 CPs sunk, 1 aborted and a French cruiser aborted. Axis missed 2nd round search.
Japanese ground strike on Sian is a success. Germans flip 2 units in the hex surrounded on 3 sides, 2 of 3 units in Paris, and an Arty adjacent to Paris.

Japanese take Sian with no losses as do the Germans for the hex East of Paris.

Likely lost about 5 cps in the course of the combat... and convoys will have to take the long way home. Incidently, the CW also transported a South African FTR to rebase it to Egypt.

After the loss of Sian, the Communist Chinese look to regroup their front. France and China likewise do some repositioning.

Axis Impulse #3

Weather is fine everywhere except N. Monsoon w/Storm

All three Axis powers take land moves.

Ground Strikes by Germans and Italians see the loss of 1 French FTR in the ensuing combats and disorganization of 3 French units SE of Rouen, an Armour in Paris and 2 units 2 hexes SW of Metz. Japan disorganizes 2 units NW of Sian. Subsequent moves are made to maximize attacks on hexes in France and NW of Sian. Incidentally, Italy takes Algiers assuring the conquest of Algeria at turn's end. Germany has 1 7-4 in Libya which moves forward with the Italians there.

Germany declares 3 attacks in France, Japan declares 1 against Communist China. China chooses Blitz and has 2 units shattered while Japan is 1/2 disorg and one loss (a DIV). In France, the Mountain Hex in NE France and the hex just west of it are taken without loss or disorganization while the hex SE of Rouen is also taken but with retreated defenders and 1/2 the attackers disorganized.

Germany reorganizes the flipped units plus some an LND and Artillery. Japan does not do any reorganizing.

Allied Impulse #4

CW takes a Naval while China and France do Land and USA/USSR do combineds.

CW moves to reorganize its convoys in light of the Italian success in the East Med last impulse. Also, the BEF is evacuated to the North Sea for now. It tries a STRAT bomb mission in uncontested air space over Hanover, but fails. France rails one of the Paris factories to Bordeaux. France and Communist Chinese pull into defensive shells. Moscow continues to rail units out of Persia. In the reorg phase, a NEI TRS reorganizes a CP in Gambia.

Axis Impulse #5

The weather continues the same... all fine except for a Stormy N. Monsoon.

All three Axis powers take a Land Action.

Germany moves units to attack Paris. Italy goes forward to take a hex adjacent to Morocco. Japan steadies its lines.
German is making 2 attacks. 1 is East of Vichy and the other is on Paris. The Eastern hex is taken with the loss of a MOT Div and 1/2 disorganized while Paris falls with 2 units destroyed and 1 shattered while the other is sent to the spiral. No damage to Germany.

Allied Impulse #6

CW take combined. France and China Land. USA/USSA combineds.

CW moves a CP to get more resources arriving in England.

CW ground strikes with 3 factor ART in Egypt and luck out getting Graziani.

France reorganizes its defenses. CW drops off a couple of units that were previously BEF back into England.

Axis Impulse #7

Weather is clear everywhere except it is rainy in N. Monsoon.

Italy and Germany take combineds. Japan takes a land.

German SUBs fail to find in Faroes Gap.

All the Axis powers move units around into position. Germany has 2 attacks in France. The first takes a hex next to Vichy with disorganization of 1/2 the Germans. The second crosses the Seine SW of Rouen and gets a Breakthrough.

Axis rolls and ends the turn.

End of Turn Sequence:

Partisans in Poland and France (neither will live long).

USA Entry choice... Lend-Lease to China and Embargo on Strategic Materials. The latter moves a chit to tension from entry pool for the Japanese.

Vichy is created... adds 2 chits to German entry. East Africa, Indo-China and New Caledonia are FF, the rest are Vichy (remembering Italy conquered Algeria).

Allied Impulse #1

Weather is fine everywhere.

France and CW take a Naval. China takes a land. US and USSR take Combined.

France and CW dress up convoy lines and make some naval moves. US moves come CPs around as well. CW STRAT bombs Lille for 1 BP. CW ground strikes Graziani hex in N. Africa with an ART, but only disorganizes an AAA in the 3 unit stack he is in. China and communist China move various units for defense and to minimize losses in the event of enemy aggression. USA/USSE move a few units around... nothing significant.

Axis Impulse #2

Germany and Japan take land moves while Italy takes a combined.

Italy moves a TRS from N. Africa (Bardia) and loads the 5 STR Mech from Tripoli in the East Med.
Japanese GS Chengsha with 2 factors...but fail to disorg any of the 2 units there.

Japanese attack Changsha... China chooses Blitz. Both units are killed and the city is taken. USA is offended 1 chit's worth. In Alexandria, CW chooses a blitz. The city is taken with all attackers disorganized and a MOT div loss by Italy... the CW units retreat.
