So your telling me i need to chastise my own skin for
screwing my system up!
Betcha Howard Hughes would have loved to meet me[X(]

And yes i am using an AMD Chip (XP2000)

Maybe the kids could earn their pocket money by blowing in the back of my
system to keep it cool
Put it away it might rain!

Yes, vacuum cleaners can be lethal to ciruitry, and even some compressed air blowers can be too strong and blow components off boards. A paint brush is a good tool for cleaning fans, gets down into them nicely.

I'd suggest that filters are the way to go. I've got some thin black foam filters in front of my air inlets and they work just fine. Do be careful with the AMD chips they run quite hot, and I've roasted one very quickly.

One of the few reasons I went Intel over AMD in my last machine. Thermal protection on the CPU. AMD's simply go up in flames with a bad fan, Intel's throttle down.

Partly depends on the motherboard Frag. I have an MSI board with software designed to shut the CPU down if it overheats... While I do watch it, I'll be shocked if/when that happens as I have ample heat dispersion in place. My AMD rarely gets above 54C which is COOOOL for the processor. [8D]

Been there, done that ... had a 1.44c running on a MSI, fan stuck! Poof! The heat buildup is in the < a second range. Too fast for those crappy thermisters to react.

Boy to read this thread you'd think fire extinguishers were issued with every AMD purchase [:D] They run hotter typically than Intel's but it's been my experience that with a little precaution, this is a non issue.

Plug in the AMD powered PC and....

AMD user lived here? [:D][:D][:D]

After constant swearing and evil finger pointing
due to constant CTD making the the game unplayable

I had a flash of divine inspiration!

I cleaned my fans!!

2 days without CTD!!!

Nobody says Lorry Drivers are smart!!!!

I Love Vacume Cleaners!!!!!

I Love Matrix/2by3/WITP/UV/WIR/WF/BoB/BTR/CS!!!!!!

Sorry!!!!!!!![:'(]

It's a "hot" game in more ways than one! Whilst the game is running CPU is at or near 100% the whole time. My Inspiron notebook "high" fan comes on all the time during game play (has three levels, low, medium and high). If that stuff isn't working well.....well you know....

Are you sure that isn´t the case temperature [;)]?

26C is extremly cool. What fan are you using? What´s your general coling strategy?

No kidding! I have a monster CPU fan and 3 large case fans and unless it's the middle of winter, and I happen to have packed the case in snow, it's not going to hit that temp! I sit at about 43/44 under load [:D]

Marc, yes that is the CPU pretty much unloaded, the case is at 18C.

I have a Li Lian Aluminum case. It has 2 80mm fans in front that pull air into the case. I have a 90mm fan at the back pulling air from the CPU and the 2 80mm fans in the power supply. I am using a Volcano 7cu Heat sink and fan. I also have an 80mm fan at the top, over the memory sticks pulling air out. I keep my room very cool, about 65F or so. That is easy to do when you live at 6800 feet above sea level. [:)] Under heavy load it does go up to about 40C or so. I found that just upgrading to XP from Win98SE cut the CPU temp by about 10-12C.

Cool it is[:)] I live at -1 meters under sea level (That why it is always raining here I believe[;)]) but we got a hot summer at the moment. The 1.4 AMD got a big fan on it and 2 in the back of the case. At this moment I removed the side cap from the case and even when using media player it hangs due heat.... I'm going to buy a 2500XP for it because I believe they do a better job. Last summer exact the same problem. It got 68 degrees Celsius when running normal.

Hmm, except for the cooler on top of the RAM that´s like my setup. Gotta check that extra cooler ( I stil have a few "louder" ones lying aournd here) and see how it performs.

I always run AMD and yes they do run on the hot side [;)] but this little jewel has taken care of that problem.

I tried this because I lost a cooling fan on a 128Mb video card and was getting heat lock ups, and was to cheap to get another card as a side benefit it dropped the inside case temp about 35 degrees F. (This thing moves some air...)

Available most anywhere about $20 US

How loud is it? Yeah, I know it says 28dBA. But these figures are for most of the part not much worth [;)]
