I'm still waiting for a response to my membership application. I tried using my old EZ Board ID to login and it denied entry even though I used the exact ID and password that they just e-mailed me. I hope JC gets around to approving my application, soon.

To Hard Sarge:

Can you help me out, here? I'm anxious to play Bob & BtR and I would like access to the board and the latest patches. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also waiting for access to the board. However, watchtower was kind enough to send me the BTR patches - see his offer above.

I would like you to email me the patches for both the BOB and BTR. I tried to obtain them by registering on the ezboard but it said my email address was already registered and it wouldn't recognize any of the user names or passwords I normaly would have used. They wouldn't let me reregister. Anyway, if you don't mind I would like to have the latest patches. Thank you

Do you have the latest BoB patch, as well? I would be interested in patches for both games.

As far as I am aware 1.02 was the final version for BOB.

I have it if anyone needs it.

I'm not sure any more, but I think the 1.05 patch is the one that introduced the freeze ray which kept me from playing it. The problem is, if I recall, is that I think the 1.05 was the one that fixed the problem with none of the GE planes being able to catch the Allied ones, due to them always lfying on cruise speed, but the same fix introduced the freeze ray. Either condition is intolerabel for me, though there seem to be a good number of that board where I was formerly a member, that don't have a problem ignoring the freeze ray.

In any event I'm surprised to find someone who has a 1.02, as a few months back I was looking for all the patches i could off the internet, just in case there was a version inbetween the interceptor closing problem and the freeze ray, and I don't think I saw a 1.02. The 1.05 is available shoulf you do a search on the internet. I think my 1.05 came from Gamespot. Seems I also saw a 1.03 (Talonsoft maybe) out there but not a 1.02.

To get the most recent .EXE and OOB register at Harley's BTR Editor board and ask for the patches in the special section .
JC has not enough time and Harley was so nice to send them out .
-> BTW the BTR Editor is a very nice tool

If you need the tips and tricks and Infos to both BoB and BtR then you'll need to register at the BtR-Forum and you'll fins lots of Infos .

What's freeze ray ?
-> Interceptor going after Recons at their own or what ?

No way. I had 1.06b or whatever it was called before I bought this new computer, and it was as broke as it ever was.

The freeze ray, easily reproducable (or at least it was for me, back in the day), was when an Allied fighter group would seek out an airfield and when the German player would send an interceptor, no matter how many, if they met head-on, would freeze where they intersected graphically until one of them ran out of fuel, completely with no combat during that time. It looks very amateurish. I believe it was introduced with the 1.05 patch but I could be wrong. When one of the units would run out of fuel there would be a short combat. Since it was usually the GE a/c which ran out of fuel first the Allied unit would get a free cheap shot at it most of the time. While that may sound like a German disadvantage, despite the ugliness of it all, it really made the Germans impervious in that situation. Imagine for every time you had a head-on that you could stop a great many raids to your airfields with one lousy aircraft, because from what I saw the Allied mission would then be aborted afterwards at least during the opening months of the game. I think another peculiarity of the freeze ray was that it only occurred from flights coming from England.

Exactly what problem are you having now? EZboard is a pain in the butt sometimes. It takes me 5-6 tries to get in sometimes to enter the BTR site. Having to login everytime.

Is it still telling you that you need to register or what.

I joined OK but when I enter the site it says all of the download links are "temporarily inactive". The forums works and people seem to be agreeing to send each other patches voluntarily. I guess the board is undergoing some kind of maintenance, but they don't provide an explanation.

JC disabled the links for the patches. He wanted to keep track of who gets the patches personally IIRC.

After spending years working on it, you get a little protective of it. But some personal issues have kept JC busy, so the best way to get the patches is to make a post over there and one of the long time members will send them to you.

JC has given permission to a couple of them to help him out.
