Well, firstly this is the WitpStaff thread NOT AE ... I'd look at using the hotkey for the hexes or go to the preferences while in a game and set it manually

I did read the first post, but I'm still afraid I missed something stupid, so sorry in advance :(

I bought the game last week and updated it with Patch 1 first, then the Patch 2 beta from November 25.
I did not download or instal the Hotfix for WiptStaff.
I did download and run the C++ redistrutable package linked in the first post for my processor type (X86 for a 32-bit Vista; I am just getting a "gathering information" then the program closes with no messages once that part is done, so this might be where the problem is... I have no idea if it closing after the gathering data part means it having worked, or if it silently crashes and is thus the reason WiptStaff doesn't work.)
I have my Java updated to the latest version (6.17 currently).

The Load Database part executes correctly, using Scenario 1 as Japan. I did delete the database folder to retry again.
I am using a new game created from Scenario 1 as Japan. I have tried "playing" one turn, saving again and retrying the WiptStaff, but I get the same problem.

wiptStaff closes without giving any error message, but if ran from the Batch file, I get:
"Got an Exception java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 2079"

Here's the log in case it would help any:
config.directory is db
Now trying plugin UPGTestPlugin
Got an Exception java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 2079
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 2079

I have one suggestion.  How about putting a button in the same place on every window.  For example the Done button seems to be everywhere.

I haven't seen Woo's (Marcus) online for a while, I think he was working on an enhancement at one stage... maybe he is waiting for Patch 2, before updating. I get the same errors as you, with the new Beta - so I doubt you are doing anything wrong. Although I'd expect to see more users having problems[&:] Maybe they have the first turn read before the Beta and subsequent turns loaded under the Beta (I haven't tested this) or you can always use Tracker and come back to Staff, when its updated or maybe Patch 2 released,to see whether this will fix the problem (as I can't see the code base, I can't tell what the Out of Bounds Exception is. [;)]

Good Luck.

For some reason, this program does not like new save games started with patch02's scenario files.

It doesn't however seem to affect games in play, only newly started ones from what I have tried.

Have installed new full patch and likewise getting the 2079 error. I am assuming our hard working creator will be using a lot of coffee to come up with a patch for this. Just like to say thank you in advance.

Is there going to be any resolution on this? I wanted to start a new game with the new data but Staff will not load a save turn without error.

Hmmm, I am not getting any errors with the last Beta patch 1094b but haven't tried the new patch 2 official update yet. Did you guys try reloading the patch update? Sometimes the file gets corrupted in the download.

Is this with a new game? I have no problem with old games, but whey I try a new game I get the error.

Did you initialise the DB under an earlier version ? I just checked with a new DB and patch2 ... no dice. But if I revert to an earlier version save and initialise I'm ok ...
I'm sure Marcus will get around to a fix sometime.

Just wanted to confirm that I am having the same problems with WitPStaff and Patch Mk 2. I thought that it was just on my end, so I got myself a clean install of both AE and Staff. The problem persisted though.

As was pointed out above, this appears to only be with new games created after Patch Mk 2. I can still open old games created before the patch, but not any after.

The screenshot below is of the actual error message.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Chad

I would say that something in Patch 2 is not quite what it was under previous versions and WITPStaff cant get over the change [:)]

Finally after much trial and tribblation ...

The reason why witpstaff is failing to handle the updated scenarios:

The Convoys (and Mobilizations) can now carry aircraft to be added to the pool in the same manner as army devices.

This is a new feature added in patch 02.
However, it is not understood by this tool.

Thus it is falling over when it finds these entries in the save.
It seems to have no issue loading the database with these same entries (assuming it doesn't just drop them).

The OutOfBound number is the a/c number + 2000 from the slot in the Convoy or Mobilization item.

Thanks for the reply Michael. Is there going to be a hotfix for it? Is it something we can correct on our end?

Thanks in advance.
