Does your resources give any reason why the funnels on Prinz Adalbert class Armored cruiser are shaped differently towards the top, when compared to other ship funnels?

The Idea was that if the funnel narrowed towards the top,that it would increase the updraught within the funnel and act like a venturi,which in turn would make the boilers more efficent,which in turn gives increased speed in knots.
