Hopefully its still coming out this year. From the last time we heard from the main man it seemed like they were well on their way without much in the way of setbacks. Def crossing all fingers and toes lol Hopefully it'll be like a surprised launch or something. That'd be pretty cool

Want a introductory video of DW2 telling me to beware of dangerous space monsters lurking and attacking any passing spaceship to be released with it though [:'(]

Really hope they take their time, last Slith games have been a joke, when you looked at the computer controlled nations ...
Shadow Empire and Empires cheated like hell, even at normal level so hard that I wondered why they even took the time to think about game rules, when their own computer nations gave a sh.. about them [:-]
...
So really hope this game will not cheat AT NORMAL LEVEL !

Anyway looking forward to see how it will be and wish the devs all luck

I also watched every other day into.
But just for the jokes that you guys make.

But it is really time for a couple of new information. Noone has no time not to inform the fan boys every month or so.
Meanwhile I translated Star Ruler 2 to german, so... maybew someone is interested in trying that out again?

And for any other game that is hyped right now, I bet that that hype is long gone before we have DU2 on our PC :-)
We might as well raised our consciousness to another level and can not play games anymore.
Wouldn't that be sad?

P.S.: Is someone willing to stop shaving his beard and posting the growing beard into this thread? I wonder how long the beard would grow until ..

Hi folks,

It's definitely taking longer than we expected, but we're keeping very busy getting it into shape with the help of the alpha testers. I promise we'll have some more info to share before the end of the year.

Regards,

- Erik

Well.. that is NOT sounding good!
Thank you for the info, anyway.
This year a little more info..
Am I the only one who knows what that means?
Ok, I am polite and do say nothing more to it.

I wish, all the ones who are involved can pull on one string and make their ideas and dreams come true, at least kind of.
No polished gold, a straight forward concept that everybody can agree on; and then play the game and tune the heck out of it!
And I hope the base is standing on a firm ground!

As much as I would like a release tomorrow it will eventually be here...

...or it won't.

Either way it's out of our hands.

Oh and you should try the original DWU. It's really good.

Mentioned to folks earlier in other forums. This is a large game, and a proper Alpha testing to fix all the bugs will take a few months. Distant Worlds 2 is the Cyberpunk 2077 of space strategy games...

He mentioned it is getting it into shape with the help of Alpha testers. Which means that the game will be out in time. Can't have a release date out while it is in Alpha.

Take as much time as required to release the game "when it's ready" but also be aware of when it would be a good time to release, i.e. not right after another major 4X game's release which has all the attention. Lol.

I think John Carmack did a really good interview about this kinda thing.

As long as I know that it is moving forward I can wait…

The first one was so epic. Take the time to bake it right :)

You mean those other 4x games would suffer then?!? ;)

A lot of people still are not aware of Distant Worlds, unlike most of the bigger companies. The Devs can't afford to spend enough time on PR and generating interest in the game unlike Paradox does. I try every now and then to generate interest on Reddit but I think there needs to be an official/unofficial website or something to help attract attention.

Yes, there is nothing..but I think Matrix and Codeforce don't really mind - otherwise they would have done something about it between 2010-now.

Maybe it is a good idea this remains with a smaller group of loyalists. This is a Niche game for a relatively smaller group as compared to the larger strategy audience. Maybe better it stays that way.
