i have buy one game from the gamers gate:

- first you must download a downloadmanager
- download the game (500 MB in 2 Hours) very slow for my dsl [>:]
-you became a reg.key and install it ok for the next three times (e-licensing) [:(]

ps you must not online for the installation

Will there also be a limited number of installs for the download version in the NA version?

@faenaris

Its unfortunately permanent according to David and I think he posted above in this thread he doesn't see that changing, just in case you missed it, bro. Very sorry about that.

Major bummer. This means waiting till the end of June before I can start playing. I hope Paradox delivers it asap.

Well, Americans, you have just earned yourself a curse: you are now forced to tell us folks who can't play the game for a while, how the game is. I expect a lot of screenshots and AAR's. So, hop to it! [:D]

I'll be playing XCOM1 in the meanwhile. I'm gonna commit genocide on the entire sectoid race, because right now I feel like I can take em all on with just a cattle-prod. [:D]

No. Being as you are in NA (and therefore under the excellent umbrella that is Matrix Games) you download and get a serial key. As long as you keep the serial key safe, and copy the downloaded file onto a DVD, then you can install as many times as you wish.

Bloody hell...it was a joke hence the wink at the end.

Considering the mood I'm in with this shit, I think a very, very light hearted jibe was ok

Hi Judge

Sorry my bad I missed that.... to many hours at the computer.

David

Apology accepted. And sorry for the short fuse. But I've been following this game development for a week now and looking forward to it.

I will NOT touch DD with eLicense and I will not touch Starforce. As far as I am aware, Paradox do not use starforce. If they do, then it's goodnight vienna

I'm not sure fallout. I'm going on previous purchases with Paradox...their disks NEVER had Starforce. Whether their DD versions from Gamers Gate do, I do not know.

However, I will NOT buy eLicense anymore - so gamersgate is out - and I will not buy starforced games. Also, being as Paradox seem to be the culprits here, I will not buy from them either.

If I can get  a US citizen to buy it for me, I will transfer funds to their paypal account and get it that way.

Up until now I've never regretted working third shift... Working is *so* going to drag tonight. Atleast I know what I'll be doing first thing in the morning. ;)

This will be my first time downloading from Matrix.  In fact, this will be my first digital download.  Anyone have any pointers or anything that I should be made aware of when doing a digital download?

I fell sorry for all you Euros.  My heart goes out to you.  It really does.
What the hell are you shooting at!?!? Do I look like a friggin' alien to you?

Matrix downloads, from my past experience, have been trouble free. I have bought, I think, about 8-10 titles with digital download from Matrix.

On the flip side, some people have had issues, but from what I gather they have been few and far between.

When you go through the payment process, you will be taken to a download link. Clicking on the download button will download the software to the drive. Around the same time you will receive an email which will have your order details on it AND a serial key. When you open the downloaded EXE file to install, you will be asked for the serial key. Simply highlight it in the email, copy it and paste it into the box. No need to be online. No limited installs. As long as you keep your serial number safe (which is unique to you) you can even download again and again.

After installation, burn the downloaded exe file and serial number (in a text file) to the DVD for safe keeping.

Job done.

I don't know why publishers waste their time and money on copy protection. It does nothing but bring ill will and clog up the support and customer service lines.

There is a lot software for sale that allows you to remove copy protection and copy movies, games and other "protected" software. If anyone wants to copy a DVD or CD there is a way.

A game is usually cracked within hours of release anyway, rendering the copy protection useless.

Even Starforce games are cracked so why would a company pay for it?

One of the best selling and most popular games of 2006 "Company of Heroes" shipped with no copy protection at all! I wonder how many people have been playing this game with the DVD in the drive when it's not neccessary [:D]

So regarding UFO:ET check for crack, buy game, install crack, remove the odious Starforce drivers and enjoy. [;)]

Of course we do not want you installing on anything but a PC you own. With that said we do not require the CD in the drive for you to play and we do allow you to install it on your Desktop PC and Notebook.

I'm just worried if there were any limited installs since I format my HDs on a regular basis.

And don't worry, I told all my friends about this game. All of us being rabid X-COM fans, they're all going to buy it as well.

We're wondering if there're any Chrysallid homages in UFO: Extra [:D]

We also fully expect our first soldier to walk out of a transport and just die as 50 bajillion aliens fire at him.

Yeah, except that soldiers can't die, unless they're left behind. :=\

No limit on the number of installs, no CD-check, nothing like that. The copy protection is really just the serial number and you should keep this handy for future re-installs. You can use it to register the game in our Members' Club once you've got it, which gives you another place to retrieve it if you lose it in the future (and also often has some additional content for some of our games).

It should be trouble-free. My only suggestion is what Dave already mentioned - if you have any connection issues, try a download manager (we recommend the free www.stardownloader.com) as that can save a lot of frustration with a very large download like this one.

Also, if you have any problems and need to re-download, you can do that by going to www.findmyorder.com after your purchase and entering your order info.

Unfortunately, yes - we are not allowed to sell anywhere outside North America for this release. The only other option I'm aware of before the retail release is to order through Paradox / Gamer's Gate.
