Here's the loss list after the turn. The Allies are still doing a good job of attriting the Luftwaffe, but most of the losses are not in the highest quality units. That won't happen until I can start striking deeper into German territory.

And finally the score so far. How am I doing? Also, of note - Italy was invaded at the end of this turn. I clicked by too fast, but I believe 26 Italian units disbanded. The days of easy kills for the P-38H jocks are probably over. Most of the competition will be LW and higher quality Italian units now.

I think you're going well, especially for the airplanes and kia ratio;
look this (I play axis vs AI):

It seems that the allied are in better hands with you.

8/31/43 Raids. 8th is hitting in the Amsterdam area, with the 9th hitting Dunkirk Port. You can see the Stirlings of 3 Group who are hitting Rheine as a diversion tonight.

The Med situation. Units here are burned out from lots of Air to Air combat, so I'm hitting troops and Arbatax Port. Otherwise it's all recon.

I have many nightfighter radar detections, but rarely do they result in intercepts. I think this accurately reflects the difficulties they faced in real life...

And the results from the day's strikes. We lost lots of AC to Flak this turn - I managed to hit every flak trap in Europe and Italy, it seems!

More turns this weekend, and next week I'll be travelling, so I should be able to get some done on the plane. 8th AAF just got hit with a UFAC mandatory target, however, so the days of Milk Runs are over! Stay tuned...

I am looking forward to going through this in detail. I tinkered with Talonsoft/Grigsby 12 O'Clock having an extensive background with SSI/Grigsby USAAF Apple IIe compaigns vs human opposition. Latter required constant changing of tactics/methods/strategies as opponent adapts (much better than AI can). My Talonsoft PBEM was stillborne due to early 16 bit installer and opponent using Vista. Investing in Matrix/Eagle day with the hope of future PBEM opposition. My primary will be tied up (with me) with current Uncommon Valor and War in the Pacific.

Screenshot show some similarities and differences (both by Grigsby, same year, Talonsoft folded, game seems ported to matrix; likely a good Grisby contract).

Thank you for the AAR. Very interesting. I will eagerly await the next part but do take your time. Real life must always come first. [:)]

Weather has been limiting the action in Europe, and in Italy, I'm heavily restricted by Avalanche tasking. I'm also moving most of my air units forward as bases open up on the "boot."

The raids in and around Italy... Most units are moving the next few turns, so there will be less raids until they get settled into their new homes close to the front. It appears that, except for the FW190F unit and possibly a 109G-6 unit, most opposition pulled back to airfields across the Adriatic. There's nothing near the frontline, thats for sure. I've also converted several units to B-26s in this area, including both divebomber units. I find the B-26s are perhaps the best combination of offensive punch and survivability in a medium bomber package.
