Those single M8, AC's again

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Well, I think Dave's already said it's cooked now, Jason, so there won't be any more adjustments. This present thing isn't a show-stopper, for sure. But it's useful, I hope to mull it over so that they can think about it in the CO2 engine, as Daz says. I'm with you now, anyway, Jason, in wanting them to move on and develop it in the directions they've outlined.

Due to other commitments I haven't actually played it properly for ages, but I look forward to getting back to it when the final is out.

I agree this shouldn't hold anything up, its not a big enough problem to need emergency work on. They retreat readily enough when attacked by a superior force.

If you have not been playing, you won't have realised that the guys have tamed down the artillery a bit, in the last patch, which actually makes the game far more fun to play, and mitigates some of the problems that these Recon units were causing.
I personally feel the power of the artillery is spot on now.

I'm still going to be pointing out minor problems if I come across them.
It gives me something to do while waiting for the patching to end, so I can start my Elsenborn Ridge AAR, and highlights things that possibly can be done for the future versions of the game.

I feel a lot happier with the M8 situation since Miguel's explanation, and my own observations since starting this thread.

I would be fine with this too, if as mentioned above they cannot call in artillery. Traditional German style (and current American style) operations would likely not care if they left a small unit anyway in this situation- the idea being that once an enemy can no longer prevent you from obtaining your objective, they are not worth the time and effort to waste "front line" resources on, so like a river, the front line moves on, and follow on forces of the police/security types can deal with stragglers who somehow escaped the initial push. This approach has its holes, but it is a realistic approach, even more so in the era being played here. Just as long as with the communications of that same era, those troops running away cannot likely have their communications gear to call artillery or talk to their own command level probably even.

I do indeed see a use case for units to be more autonomous, and launch independent attacks under certain conditions, very much like the Allow Attacks setting does for the Move task. Nonetheless, such an ability would probably introduce quite a few problems which would take some time to think about.

Regarding these remnants, I do also think that they shouldn't stick around at all, but rather bug out and find their way to more sensible positions, rather than leave out to hang. I commented as well on this topic a few posts above.

Regarding the Panthers vs Jeeps engagement: they are small targets and yes, we assume they're moving. Those units, rather than stand their ground, should be bugging out.
