Soviet North. Two things.

I let a soviet cav cut of the Finnish army. I saw it on the rail previous turn and didnt do anything. Sloppy play. We will see if the finns will pay for it severely.

Secondly I dont really know the rules. Is Leningrad out of supply now or not? Ayone know?

In the center I dont really even try for Moscow. That river that is there in Front of Moscow nowadays is pretty evil :). Makes it hard to take for sure. As can be seen my mech units are very worn down. Many soviet armies are in garrison mode but still maybe some kind of winteroffensive might be possible.

End of 1941.

1941 Comes to an end. Not that much happening. The frontline in the East is basically as the Screenshot in September I forgot screen shot Ill take one next turn. I took Leningrad in December. There are some Soviet counterattacks. They dont do much damage but neither do I inflict that much damage even though odds are like 1-1 and 2-1 but maybe that is because of the low readiness because of the winter.

As always in these alternative universes the Americans are on the way.

End of 1941.

Forces and casualties.

I note the following.

German losses are not very high. You could lose like 250-300 vs the French before that is not the case any more.
The Italians have lost unnessarily much. Lost 2 alpini corps and a HQ in Africa.
The Sub war is ok. I lost about 100-110 subfactors for 19 escorts and 239 Merchants. I have 8 subs operational on 1943 tech. I only lost one sub unit so far. Unfortunatley in a bad manner leaving it in range of UK land based bombers.
Soviet army is big. Will be probably 2600-2700 in summer so dont think victory is possible but I will try to inflict some damage anyway.
German army feels small. I ususally like to build many units and upgrade a little bit but this time I have gone in pretty hard on upgrades. Still because losses have been moderate I think I can have like 1700 points fully 1943 upgraded units by summer.

And the Tech.

As can be seen on fewer and fewer areas. I might skip subs after 1944 tech depending on how many I will have left by then.

March 1942

Get a cold turn and launch a early offensive. Unfortunately the Soviets did retreat one hex row last turn so not as good as it could have been. Still inflict about 3-1 in losses and shatters 3 armies.

Which made me realise a big boost for the Soviets with the return of shattered units. It means the old pacman strategy where by shattering one soviet army per turn it was hard for the Soviets to increase the unit count. It is a good change the strategy kind of gamey, but that makes life a lot easier for the Soviet who survives 1941.

So goal for 1942 try to kill as much soviets that I can hopefully mech and arm. As long as I inflict like 2,5-3 to 1 I should continue to attack.

Only geographical goal really is Moscow since it is a fair amount of production there.

Feel I have been luckier with the weather these games. Not helping much but anyway [:)].

I got a cold turn again in the east. It is not all good since my units will start the summer pretty tiredbut I think I have to try and take what I get. I manage to inflict something like 3-1 in casualties again and I overran a fighter unit and I managed to cross the Oka behind Moscow. Now it is getting a bit more interesting strategically. If I could get to Gorki-Ivanov, a big if for sure, I could maybe cut supply for the whole northern part of the front. That could be a gamechanger possibly. Or is Moscow a supply source in all circumstances? Anyway we will see how it plays out. First I will have to try to get Voronezh I need that railline if I am going to continue attacking from south to north.

Forgot screen shot but the western allies are chomping at the bits and already took Sardinia.

Argh so angry I forgot to take a screenshot [:)].

Evil Allies invade Rome And I had forgotten to put a German unit there. Something I dont think I have ever forgotten before. Ah well, that means Italy will surrender in 1942 which means the game is over. So I will resign here a bit anti climactic but those are the rules and maybe what I deserve for abandoning Africa so easily I dont know.

Sad as I got a 3rd straight cold turn in the east and I think the summer would have been interesting a well.

Ah well, well played HB well deserved win. I think I will take a short break from the game again as I have some other things going on but I think I might be back it is a very fun game I think.
