Re: 1861 Blue and Grey Mod
I'm liking the counters, may I suggest a less vibrant red for the British units. This would help I think to see the flag in the lower left hand corner. I may need a pair fo shades to play with them.kirk23 wrote: Tue Jul 05, 2022 2:31 pmI have been working hard on the mod all day today, just completed all the British land forces. Starting now on Naval units.OldCrowBalthazor wrote: Tue Jul 05, 2022 8:09 amYes...please continue with your NATO counters. I like the Union Monitor colors and all.kirk23 wrote: Tue Jul 05, 2022 6:57 am I have decided to still continue with making my own Nato art so with that in mind here is my version of a Union Monitor.

I like that red much better. Who knows with redcoats like that the British could march into Washington again and burn the White House down for a second go round. LOL "Two to beam up Scottie"kirk23 wrote: Thu Jul 07, 2022 2:34 pm British Red colour toned down a lot.![]()

That's much better for Great Britain.
Unfortunate Son sent me numerous images of his Soviet counter-set so we could curate the right hue and saturation for those reds (Reds).
I really like the Mexican tan too.

Re: 1861 Blue and Grey Mod
I'm very hopeful of having my mod available to anyone who wants to play it within 2 weeks, maybe even sooner you don't really know with these things. But progress has be good most of the new Nato graphics have been done, just some naval stuff to do, I'm also tweaking the AI in regard to research and purchases etc.

Re: 1861 Blue and Grey Mod
Kirk, quick question.
Is it possible you could create or partition just the counter-set also?
Reason I'm asking is I believe if I drop those in to the bit-maps folder, I can use them in an existing PBEM game I got going.
(Still interested in the mod whole mod at a later date...but if I could use the counters and it didn't interfere with the PBEM server, I would use them)

Yes I'm sure I can upload just the Nato graphics when they are complete. I'm hoping to have all the Nato graphics complete by Monday.OldCrowBalthazor wrote: Sat Jul 09, 2022 7:43 am Kirk, quick question.

Re: 1861 Blue and Grey Mod
Right on. I could do a test run with a separate hosted game to make sure the server won't interfere. Generally, graphics mods don't bother the PBEM server...only script changes. In that case, both parties have to have the exact mod version for the server to agree. I'll look further into this though to make sure.
Thanks

Re: 1861 Blue and Grey Mod
I'm an old wargamer, and trust me when I say old. Therefore NATO graphics work better for me because these old eyes don't see so well, but in this game as well as other SC offerings the naval icons are blah. I've always wanted the ability to have NATO ground counters with 3D naval counters. I posted that idea years ago on another SC game topic, so I'm guessing the developers couldn't do it, or ignored it (unlikely as they are good at replying) or I missed it (somewhat more likely). So ... the best solution here is new NATO counters with improved naval graphics. Please, Kirk23, go for it.

TangSooDo please check out the "War Map Mod" in the mods section. You will see what I have in store for the naval counters.TangSooDo wrote: Sat Jul 09, 2022 2:43 pm I'm an old wargamer, and trust me when I say old. I have been working on a new naval colour scheme based on Unfortunate Son colours for Sea and Sky, what do you guys think? The Confederate and British Ironclads use the new colour scheme with the ships outlines in silhouette.

Union Ironclad and Monitor join the fight. I should add that the graphics look better in game than they appear here.

Re: 1861 Blue and Grey Mod
These are great, so I very reluctantly comment on the CSA naval units -- I fear confusing them for Union because of the dark blue upper area. Dark gray would clear that up. Thanks for your work.kirk23 wrote: Sun Jul 10, 2022 1:55 pm Union Ironclad and Monitor join the fight. I should add that the graphics look better in game than they appear here.![]()

Possible new naval units..jpg
First... I like the naval counters. I feel the white letter gets a bit lost in the sky because the white letter and sky color are close in value (almost the same brightness / darkness) I would darken the sky a bit. But not as dark as the CS sky. Also I see that the UK counter the one with the Union Jack has the dark blue bar at the bottom. I am referring to the (Union Ironclad and Monitor join the fight..jpg). I think it should be consistent with land units and have the bar red for UK naval counters. I would match each country in the same manner.

Re: 1861 Blue and Grey Mod
French Ironclad this time as a test sea colour same as sea game map. If I use each Countries individual colour as the bottom portion off the naval units, then the dark blues of both the Union and the French makes it impossible to use the ships as black silhouettes because of colour clashes, I'm going to have a think about all this.
The white lettering looks good against the sky blue in game, images on the forum are not as good as units actually appear in game.
