Defeating Spartacus?
Re: Defeating Spartacus?
While Crassus is moving toward Spoletium, Quintus Arrius is facing a smaller army. I decide to rest my four legions under his command. My goal is to form a big stack under the command of Crassus later.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Rhegium again, another 1414 men and 430 horses lost for the enemy while I am losing only 369 men. Is it really a Roman defeat like the game is saying?
This is perhaps a tactical defeat. But strategically, I am successfully defending the city, occupying Spartacus since a while, while Crassus army is about the storm everything in the north.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Spoletium was left by the slave army. So I continue to advance. My next objective is Luceria. The slave army on my path is pushed a little bit but not destroyed yet.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
My repaired fleet is performing a port blockade of Croton. Crassus is now moving around the slave army. We will merge the six legions all together.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Few options, I can recall Lucullus or I can recall Pompeius. I decide the latter.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Spartacus is losing another 3874 men in front of Rhegium while I am losing 1660 men. Overall, the strategic situation is good. Northern Italy is safe now. I will merge the six legions together before moving on.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
The big stack is ready in Beneventum. Praetor Glaber is in Luceria. And there is a garrison in Neapolis. Looks like we have a frontline now.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
This is time to resume our offensive operations. There is a big and a small enemy army in front of me. I decide to go after the small army with the end objective to free the city of Metapontum and its port.
If I can cut supply of the big enemy army, this is also a good move.

Rhegium garrison seems undefeatable.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Battle of Nola is starting on day 6 but not at the advantage of Crassus. However, the next day, the Romans are doing a little better.

Day 8 and 11, the Romans are continuing their advance. The enemy army is reduced to 2198 men and 96 horses.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
However, on day 18, the enemy army is receiving reinforcements. But, this is another victory for the Roman empire. 6273 men are lost. The next day, this is the end of this army.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
With Nola liberated, we continue with our plan to capture Metapontum. A last attempt is done by the enemy army to prevent us to move, but this is a complete failure.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Arriving in Metapontum, Crassus is wiping out an army of 19502 men and 1800 horses. He is losing only 4797 men. The enemy leader was not very good...

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Spartacus would have done a better job. But, the AI is keeping him at Rhegium. Come on, the danger is near. And a second problem arises for Spartacus. Pompeius is now in Placentia with four more legions.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Back on the strategic map, the enemy army in Grumentum has not moved at all. And it is still impressive.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
Pompeius is moving to Corfinium. His fresh legions will engage the last important enemy army. Crassus will leave a garrison in Metapontum and will attack Croton, the last port owned by the slaves.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
The garrison of Rhegium is reduced but it is still holding. But, the good news is that Croton is just taken. No more supply coming from the sea.

Re: Defeating Spartacus?
The enemy morale is still high despite all these defeats. The pirates have still to show up... Nola is again taken for the loss of only 184 men.
