Turn 40 - Allied Turn - January 1st 1943

Image

Obviously, the Chinese lost too many units.
The AI did a strategic drawback.
Exactly what I need.

Image

More troops land in Rabaul.
Without their HQ, this is not a huge problem.
So far.

Turn 41 - Japanese Side - January 11th 1943

Image

General Winter helps the Chinese forces.
Conquering Sian takes quite long due to the bad weather continues.

Image

My forces approach Guiyang.
The city itself is not important, but capturing it opens the door to Chongqing and Kunming.

Image

My carriers sink a British carrier, and two of my slightly damaged BBs sink a US CA.
South of Guadalcnanal, a British DD is sunk.

Unfortunately I did discover the enemy Amphibs to late.
And I don`t want to send BBs.
They cannot get back, and the US Navy still has 22 vessels.

Turn 42 - Allied Side - January 22nd 1943

Image

More US units land in New Guinea.
I cannot hold Lae, so I will take the SNLF back to Aitabe.

I have been asked why I am not concerned about a concentration of US troops so close to Guadacanal.
The answer is as follows: they will land somewhere, this cannot be prevented.
So I prefer to have them there where they do not hurt anyone.

Also, two British BBs attack the remainder of the Kido Butai.
Both sides suffers losses.
I will need to send my damages ships back to Japan.
But I think I will sink the British BBs in my turn.

Turn 43 - Japanese Side - January 31st 1943

Image

Sian is in range of my Artillery.
I just need good weather.

Image

Guiyang is taken by the 14th Army.

At moment, I have 3 HQs, 8 armies, Paras and 3 Air units in the area.
I will split these forces.

Okamura HQ will get 3 armies, all Air units and the paras.
Mission: Chongqing

Yamashita HQ will get 3 armies.
Mission: Kunming, Wanting, Ledo (India)

Hata HQ will get two armies.
Mission: take defensive positiions in the Dutch East Indies.

Image

I have used the opportunity.
Some US and British ships were close to my forces, so I was able to approach, attack and withdraw.

The US Navy losse 2 BBs, a BC and a CA.
The Royal Navy looses 2 BBs.

The amount of Allied vessels is still at 21.

The Kido Butai is down to 5 undamaged ships.

Image

My first attack on Sian fails.

Image

Some armies are equipped with Motorization 1.
I will will need an extra Action Point.

Image

No attacks this time.
Almost all ships are in Japan, and my carriers get upgraded.

I think his will go on for a couple of turn.

Turn 47 - Japanese Side - March 12th 1943

Image

Most ports are occupied by damaged ships.
I know that a lot of enemy ships were sunk around the Solomons, but I also lost a lot of strength points, and I need a lot of MPPs to repair the Kido Butai.

I received Naval Weapons 2 last turn, and I will equip all ships with it.
This will help a lot.

Image

Another attack on Sian fails.

Image

Taking Chongqing won`t be easy.

Image

Almost no fighting around the Solomons.
One of my subs damages a US BB.

Turn 48 - Allied Turn - March 22nd 1943

Image

Thee are a lot of enemy Maritiime Bombers around.
My sub suffers heavy damage.
It needs to sail back to Japan.

More troops land in Rabaul.
Enemy units block the port, so the supply will drop below 5.
Looks like I need to evacute my SNLF, otherwise it gets wiped out sooner or later.

Turn 49 - Japanese Turn - April 1st 1943

Image

Sian is under Japanese control.
Chinese NM takes a hit.

Image

One of my units enters the hex next to Chongqing.
Unfortunately, I was not able to occupy the fortifications.
So during the Allied turn a new unit will appear there.

Image

A couple of units are on their way back to the Solomons.
All carriers are equipped with with Long Range Aircraft 3 and Naval Weapons 2.
This brings one more hex Naval Spotting and Strike Range.

All BBs and CAs are equipped with Naval Weapons 2 and Anti Aircraft 1.

Image

I just have two carriers around, but they sink a BB and destroy a Maritime Bomber.

Image

My income is stable.
The rail connection to Indochina brings a lot of MPPs.

And there are a lot of raiding activities by Allied Maritime Bombers and subs.
All my DDs (5 in total) are in Singapore, so I need to send them to the Philippines.

Turn 50 - Allied Turn - April 11th 1943

Image

As expexted: a new unit appears in the fortifications.

Image

This comes unexpexted: Allied DDs and subs ambush some of my ships.
In total, 3 DDs and 2 subs conduct an attack on one of my subs.
My sub is heavily damaged, and a BB is also damaged.
I need to send both back to Japan.

Turn 51 - Japanese Turn - April 21st 1943

Image

Most ships are repaired and upgraded.

Image

My troops destroy a Chinese army.
Also, Stilwells HQ is severely damaged and retreats.

Image

In Turn 53, I will transfer the Heavy Artillery from the north to Guiyang.
Otherwise it would take to long to de-entrench Chongqing.

Image

Maritime Bombers from Andaman disrupt my convoys.
One of the Maritime Bombers is damaged by my Medium Bombers.
During the next turn, I will try to destroy at least one.

Image

I will establish a Defence in Depth.
It is not possible to occupy all hexes, so I will concentrate my units around Batavia where I will have good supply.
One more army will arrive next turn.

Image

My DDs will start hunting subs next turn.

Image

A combined airborn attack of Maritime Bombers and 3 carriers sinks 3 DDs and a BB.

At the moment, the Allied have 25 vessels on the board.
I have 29.

Since the war started, I did sink 33 enemy vessels, from Motor Torpedo Boat to Carrrier.
And I need to sink some more, or they will outnumber me sooner or later.

Image

This is why I prefer to control Guadalcanal instead of New Guinea.

Turn 52 - Allied Turn - May 1st 1943

Image

A Brisith sub raids the convoys from Borneo and the Dutch East Indies.
What a pity my DDs are in the east of the Philippines.
Usually they wait for subs around Singarpore.

Image

Two subs and a DD damage the CA Myoko.
The CA needs to go back to Japan.

Turn 53 - Japanese Side - May 11th 1943

Image

My forces destroy a Chinese Army and damage a HQ.

Originally I wanted to tranfser the Heavy Artillery to the south.
Unfortunately Yanan is not connected to the railway net, so I need to place it on a hex with railway conection.
This might delay the capture of Chongqing.

Image

The first attack on Chongqing lowers the entrechment from 6 to 1.
My units takes losses, but I want to be quick.
The sooner I have units to transfer to other theaters, the better.
I cannot start a counter offensive in New Guinea with just one SNLF.

Image

The British sub Truant is sunk with combined efforts.
Fortunately it had just strength 8, otherwise I would not have caught it.

Image

Two DDs and the Motor Torpedo Boat PT-109 are sunk.
Fortunately, this is just Alternate Reality.
Also, an American sub takes slight damaged and dives.

The 2nd Kure SNLF attacks a unit of US Special Forces.
The enemy´s strength is down to 2.
It has supply 3, so it cannot be refreshed to full strength.

Also, I have transferred another Maritime Bomber, so I will try to recon more enemy vessels.

Turn 54 - Allied Turn - May 21st 1943

Image

One of my BBs is ambushed by two subs and takes damage.
I need to do something against the subs, this is getting nasty.

A British DD attacks one of my troop transports, and fortunately it evades.
This was quite lucky.

Image

More US troops appear.

Turn 55 - Japanese Turn - Mai 31st 1943

Image

Japanese forces take Tianshui.
The Chinese loose a HQ and an army.
I think the remaining Chinese forces will fall back to Lanzhou.

Image

Chongqing is also under Japanese control.
I was not able to enter the city, so I had to drop my Paras.
Otherwise it would have taken ages.

I will separate my forces again.

Yamashita HQ will march to the north, take the Relocated Industries and establish a land connection to Tianshui.
For this task, he will be accompanied by three motorized armies.

Okamura HQ will attack Kunming and then march to the west and attack Ledo.
For this task, he be accompanied by two motorized armies, paras, Heavy Artillery and all Air units.

The remaining army will be transferred to New Guinea.

Image

Two of my damaged vessels sink the British DD and head to Japan.
Maritime Bombers damage the US sub.
It will retreat to the next port.

Image

Another DD is sunk by my carriers.
In New Guinea, my counter offensive starts.
At the moment, I need help from the carriers to destroy enemy units.

Turn 57 - Japanese Turn - June 20th 1943

Image

My troops advance and catch a Chinese Cavalry unit and Gen. Stilwell`s HQ.

Image

Since my troops took Chongqing, supply has dropped for the remaining Chinese units.
The ones around Chongqing have supply 3, so it is easy to destroy them

Image

My defendes in Java are almost ready.
The Maritime Bomber will fly recon each turn.

Image

No more US subs.
My DDs will sails back to Singapore.

Image

Another BB and a DD are sunk.

Image

The Jananese carriar Soryu has earned its third EXP star.
That`s why.

Turn 59 - Japanese Turn - July 10th 1943

Image

My troops destroy a Chinese army and reach the outskirts of Lanzhou.
There is one problem: I have no artillery or bombers, so it will take time to besiege the city.

Image

The enemy looses more troops around Chongqing.
Kunming is taken by Japanese forces.
It surrenders at the end of Turn 59.
No more US help for the Chinese.

Image

With the help of 3 carriers, my SNLF destroys an American SF units and gets closer to Lae.

Image

This is my current income.
