You would probably be jumping for joy if you got the Frank Lampard from FM21.

Mauricio used to be "The Overrated One" but he got deposed by Frank.

Whoever manages Man U automatically becomes "The Anointed One" even if that is Ole.

I just wish the gods at FM HQ would smile on The Iron. Every year I watch in despair as they get relegated out of the game.

Spurs are just mediocre. You don't know how lucky you are.

In my latest FM21 save, it is 24 June 2022 and Spurs have just offered me an interview for the manager's position. Spurs have finished 8th in 21/22 season and Carlo Ancelotti got the heave ho. Jose Mourinho got sacked at the end of the 20/21 season. Harry Kane was sold last season to Man City for £73m up front and rising to £93m with add-ons. In a post-Covid world, Man City are one the few clubs with money to burn. The next few years should be interesting. Covid has, in general, reduced the money that clubs have and in the post Brexit world British players are at a premium for British clubs. Why on earth Spurs would offer me an interview for the job is beyond me. I have just got MK Dons promoted to the Championship but then jumped ship because the board were being total ... well, you can probably work out a suitable ending to that sentence. They meddeleth upon me greatly and I wasn't in the mood. Kind of expected that behaviour (not honouring my contract) to hamper my job opportunities for a while. Haven't even started looking for another job and the dust hasn't even settled when up comes an unsolicited interview offer with Spurs.

I smell a rat. Will probably decline the interview.

well my current fantasy is Celtic head hunt Mourinho - they do rather deserve each other

16 games in, Braintree's season is now over. The clubs voted to cancel the remainder of the season and to declare the whole National League North and National League South 20/21 season as null and void. The National League clubs voted overwhelmingly to continue the National League season.

All football clubs are hurting due the pandemic. Several clubs in the non-league game are facing serious existential problems. My beloved Iron is one of them.

Hi Steve

You have my sympathies. its the same in Scotland when they started leagues 1 and 2 (plus the Highland and Lowland leagues), so clubs incurred a baseline of expenses and then cancelled it after 12 or so games (less in the 2 regional leagues). Given how tight their finances are and how dependent they are on gate money its a disaster lurking out of sight.

No idea what is going to be left at the end of all this, but these are (as in the English non-league), classic small town (or village) teams that bumble along quite harmlessly with their own networks of rivalries. I mean Brora-Wick may claim few national headlines but it is the big Caithness-Sutherland clash of the season.

Yeah, football will always survive while there are communities to support it. And we only really appreciate the good times when we have suffered through the bad times. The pandemic is a challenge for us all but we will get through it.

There is a chap on SI forums, Morrissey (Mozzza), who produces a full Scottish Pyramid database every year for the Highland League and lower. Unfortunately, due to the brand new Winter Update the current version of it is incompatible. Mozza is currently working on an update.

Right. So we've comfortably beaten - and Dele Alli has shown he can score a goal against - the worst ranked team that was left in the Europa League.

So its back to the Premiership and we are playing Burnley - a team that has struggled this season and is in the bottom third of the table (where they've been the whole season).

So what are the chances of Spurs actually breaking their recent habit and NOT actually stinking the place out on the way to another defeat?

Well put it this way. If I was a betting man I wouldn't be wagering a whole wad of cash on Spurs bettering the air quality around White Hart Lane that's for certain...

Do ex-footballers actually know anything about the game they get paid humungous amounts of money to comment on?

So Rio Ferdinand believe Dele Alli was Spurs best player in the first half against Fulham. Why? He got himself into a position to 'score' Spurs goal. This was from about six yards out and - as proven by the fact it was given as an own goal - he couldn't even get that on target.

He then spent the rest of the game embarrassingly falling over trying to win free kicks before being substituted with half an hour to go.

Fulham were desperately unlucky not to get at least a point from the game. Just what does Mourinho say to his players at half time that makes them even worse in the second half than they were in the first?

Baffled.

no, they got a special police escort into the centre of the city. There is a foul nexus in the West of Scotland between Rangers, the Orange Order, Freemasonary & the Police, and it was on full show yesterday.

Unfortunately one of those situations where football and social problems collide head on.

and, in case of doubt, I have no time for the more idiotic wing of Celtic's support either.

Of course, shouldn't need to be said ... not all Rangers fans, most of whom managed to celebrate a well deserved, long delayed league win (after a pretty traumatic decade for their club) like normal people
