Recon planes have to fly at much more realistic heights in Nikmod....otherwise the losses mount up fast. [:)]

6000 feet is not a good idea.

don´t tell that Hortlund! [;)] My recons, like the F5 I have in use now are flying at 40.000ft and take minimal losses. Perhaps 1 plane lost out of 100 missions. Too high for flak and too high for fighters. And they still seem to be able to achieve reasonable results as they even spot subs and small ships from that height (which seems strange though)...

A day with training raids only. I guess most of the turns in the next two months will loke like this one, perhaps with more Japanese aircraft on training mode also... thank god we´re rushing through those months...

If he's paying attention to losses on the intel screen, he may notice but alot of players miss it.

Flying higher does reduce the speed (in terms of # of turns) in which Detection Levels rise over a target base but they'll still get the job done ultimately.

we still have to fight it out with the CD of Dutch Harbor. Pennsylvania lost two mounts of her secondary armament today... we have yet to achieve a single hit on the port or airfield... doing those attacks now every couple of days, something Hortlund showed us. I´m not really a fan of those unlimited BB bombardments but my opponent didn´t want to limit them so here we go. We have an AE at Unmak Island one hex away so we can do bombardments every second day if needed...

not a single fighter over Lautern the last days so we sent in the bombers to force the Japanese to fly Cap here instead of doing training from New Guinea. 5 bombers were lost (3 to flak). We are operating nearly at the max height of the B-25 which would be 21.200ft. Still, I´m satisfied with the hits on the base. 3 of those attacks and the base would be closed...

Re Dutch harbour,

Just a thought, maybe your damage to BB's is because they only have 2 targets. Now they are down to 10 guns is it worth allowing escorts to fire.

I´m always trying to do it the safe way, so no escorts are allowed to bombard. There are still mines at Dutch Harbor also. Looks like I can do those bombardments daily when the ships can replenish at Unmak Island. And it seems we have already achieved our goal: the flak has been silenced! [8D]

RE: The rant goes on... Pzjg Hortlund vs Castor Troy

What I really wonder is, why is Adolf Hitler on the picture of an Allied HQ unit?? [:D] Or who is the second guy from the left. Looks like Hitler to me...

Tatung expands airfield to size 5

In the last three days, 4 of my subs were hit by land based aircraft. 3 by Helens and one by a Val. Of those 4 subs, 2 are 90% sure write offs, 1 has a 50/50 chance and 1 will surely make it. Now if I would have 100 subs within LBA range... at the moment I have 15 subs in range of LBA (means 8 hexes from within level 3 bases) and I lost 4 out of 15 subs in 3 days. It´s so easy to clear the whole map of subs... needless to say that I really care about my subs and move them...[8|]
