Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Sheikh Rasheed, is said to have stated that the country’s armed forces will have a full squadron of Chinese J-10C ‘4++ generation’ fighter planes by March 2022, for the country’s March 23rd Parade.
This comes after months of unofficial and unverified claims of a Pakistani J-10 purchase, with a deal being signed in the first half of 2021. It also comes after the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force deployed J-10Cs to Pakistan for cooperative drills. Pakistan ordered two squadrons of J-10C (36 aircraft). It is believed that Pakistan’s J-10C will be fitted with a Chinese Shenyang WS-10 engine and will carry a PL-15 missile.
Coincidently, 25 are parked outside CAC, Chengdu assembly line.

Norway closes main air base above Arctic Circle
Fighter jets have been stationed at Bodø since 1955 and the air base was Norway’s most important throughout the Cold War and until today.
Located some 80 km inside the Arctic Circle, Bodø is strategically placed on the coast to the Norwegian Sea and in short flying distance to guard the northern air space against Russian military aviation flying out from the Kola Peninsula.
The closure of the air base also marks the end to 40 years of F-16 as the main fighter jet in the Norwegian Air Force.
The new fleet of F-35s is based at Ørland Air Base in southern Norway, but a few will also serve as NATO’s new QRA at Evenes Air Station near Harstad in the north. So far, 24 of 52 new F-35 have arrived in Norway. By 2025, all the new planes will be in service.
On January 6, the F-35 fighter jets will launch an active QRA for NATO from Evenes and the last two F-16 from Bodø will fly their last mission, marking the official end to Bodø Air Base as home to the fighter jets.
One of the two F-16 will return to Bodø and remain as a museum exhibit at the town’s Aviation Museum.
Meanwhile, the airport in Bodø will continue to serve civilian air traffic and still be home to 330 Squadron of SAR helicopters operating under the management of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre of Northern Norway.

Suspect Bodo will remain an emergency asset in planning. wonder if there is something with the facilities supporting F-35s.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced it is planning to purchase the Korean Air Defense System (M-SAM), a deal that may reach $3.5 billion.
UAE’s ministry of defense tweeted that the system will qualitatively improve the country’s air defense’s capabilities.
Negotiations at Advanced Stage
Speaking about the potential purchase, the CEO of the UAE’s defense and security acquisitions authority revealed to Gulf Today that negotiations with Korean representatives have reached “very advanced stages,” adding that a final agreement is close.
He said, “the two sides agreed to develop the system according to the operational requirements of the Air Force and Air Defence of the UAE.”
Meanwhile, the Gulf state is on a spree to buy a range of weapons from across the world. At the year’s beginning the country penned a $23 billion deal with the US which includes 50 F-35s and up to 18 MQ-9 Reaper drones. At the Dubai Air Show this week, the chief of a Russian defense conglomerate revealed that the country has shown interest in the Russian fifth-generation Checkmate aircraft.
M-SAM Block II
The M-SAM block II is a self-propelled medium-range surface-to-air missile system. The Republic of Korea Air Force received the first of a planned seven batteries system in November last year. Each M-SAM battery consists of four-wheeled Transporter, Erector, and Launchers, a multifunction radar, and Command and Control center.
The LIG Nex1-manufactured system uses the hit-to-kill missile with a range of 40 kilometers (25 miles) and speed of 5 Mach. It can intercept aircraft and missiles at an altitude of 20 kilometers (12.4 miles).
