A really interesting group this - and one that potentially gives Hungary hope. If Spain beat or draw with Albania and Italy do the same, then the 3rd place team will finish behind the Magyars.

Equally interesting is that if the Croats find their mojo, they can put Italy into trouble - the Azzuri would be a third place finisher on three points. At this point Italy would be above Hungary as the Magyars have a -3 GD vs Italy’s 0. Of course of that may change if Croatia really find their mojo!

All of this of course assumes Albania don’t pull off a surprise against already qualified Spain. If they can pull off a shocker here then this would give Albania 4 points…..

All four teams then still with something to play for.

…… but if England end up relying on being one of the best placed 3rd place finishers, then please just come home now.

I watched the Albanian game. The Spanish struggled to get out of third gear. Their finishing was woeful.

So who has something to play for today - and what are they playing for?

Well Poland are out. So I think it should be expected that France put them to the sword - and the French may have one eye on goal difference to try and ensure top spot. Regardless of what happens, the French have qualified but as with all teams, the key is to finish as high as possible to try and get the best route to the final (that's the theory anyway).

The second match is slightly more interesting as it is still possible for the Netherlands and Poland to top the group - or finish second or third! Poland need a win and for France to fail to win for that to happen. For the Netherlands, their fate is in their own hands and a win will mean that it comes down to goal difference (assuming France also win).

Group C is much more up in the air. Only England (somehow) have qualified for certain and the other three can all qualify, while only Serbia can't finish top of the group. Even a draw or low scoring defeat could be enough for Slovenia and Denmark (but each essentially needs to better the other's result), while realistically Serbia have to win. An England defeat would mean they could be forced into third place.....

After the garbage served up in the first two games, I don't have a clue what England will do tonight, but put it this way, if I was a betting man I wouldn't be putting my hard-earned on an England win....

The Croatians will certainly be cheering on England. They need England to put in a performance and win by 3 goals or more. They also need Denmark to win against Serbia.

An English failure to win heavily will pi.. er upset Croatia mightily.

I shall be watching Netherlands vs Austria. After what they served up their last game, I can't bring myself to watch the French.

I think so but I know some were questioning that much -although unlike the World Cup there isn’t that much extra time being played.
