Back in 76 or 77 we were excited by a new hard drive for a DEC PDP8, it was all of 26 K.

In 76 I was getting my MBA and using a Burroughs computer the university had. That was 34 bit machine! The numeric order of the alphabet wasn't alphabetic; you had to run a routine to convert from numeric order to alphabetic order - very sad.

Then there was the 60 bit CDC 6600 machine I used in 74, ... very fast for those days, ... it was used to do flight simulations, ... the full scale mock-up of the cockpits (dual!, they simulated dog-fights) had green and white CRTs that depicted the horizon.

Not worth the effort.
I thought it would only be a parameter to change, but if it needs any effort, I agree it's not worth it.
