I thnk Andy has designed the Ironman series to work "balanced" at normal. You can run hard, but don't need to for the AI to work. I do, as suggested above, run hard about 4 days per month just to keep the AI strong. I would not suggest you attack on those days and beware of really strong counter-attacks coming your way ...

In any of the stock scenarios you need to run Hard as you baseline ....

Pax -

I stated Ironman NN, and had to start over after four turns (my Formosa Air was slaughtered); am delighted that others are giving it their best.

Switched to Babes A Quick and Dirty NN upon release, putting the original NN on hold.

Am not trying to hijack this thread, but want to say that all of the surprises and Easter eggs in the original are also in the Babes version. I happen to like the Babes line of approach, which is why I switched - but do enjoy playing both; it is simply a matter of personal preference.

Regardless, all versions of Andy's Ironman NN are outstanding, and are what caused me to leave my preferred H2H style of play to Ironman AI - and loving it.

Pax, I very much appreciate your recommendation about switching to "Hard" for four or so days a month; I shall do so in my current game.

Currently on spring break, and hope to do a turn a day (just like the Big Boys!)...<grin>

Am on the December 23 1941 turn, and trying to hold Singers - early on I carefully concentrated, protected and trained my Buffalos and strike air; then unleashed them when the Japanese landed at Mersing - with 70 percent losses (Zero Float Fighters!). <sigh> The remnants are rebuilding at Batavia and Soerabaja for round two...

Successfully bombarded Davao, including a good night action sinking Japanese AK's - the wolves amongst the sheep (working off intel reports); tried to replicate the same at Jolo with a Brit CL SAG - yet another mini KB was covering the landing and hammered my beautiful ships.

Japanese Subs at most major ports; am working hard at hunting them as best I can.

Christmas Island and Noumea have fallen, Fortress's Suva and Palembang are mobilizing as quickly as possible.

LA is in a panic...(but then again, when is LA NOT in a panic?)

Jap AMC's range the Indian Ocean.

Sooo, the action is hot and heavy, but what more can I ask for? I plan to just enjoy the ride and learn more every turn from this awesome mod.

Life is Good!

A much chastened but still defiant Mac

Andy,

I have the Ironman Allied (IJ AI; Scen 17) files and the Nasty Nasty version of this as well. I can't find the intermediate "Nasty" files. Can you either post here or IM or email me?

Thanks!

My old Ironman Nasty was Scenario 30 and had extra "dot" hexes around the map to help the AI. The "new version of Nasty loads as scenario 10 and has the surprise forces around India/Malasia, but not the extra "dot" hexes or bases. So I think the map is wrong.

So I tried the new version of Nasty Nasty (Scenario 104) and it is great but the Russians get activated. So that wont work.

Can I fix the regular Nasty Iron man (in scenario 10) to use the extra "dot" hexes, or can someone provide a link to a "nasty" or "nasty nasty" (Jap AI) that is current and does not activate the Soviets please?

Andy I love your work. I cant go back to the regular Ironman, its just to dull.

Just wanted to chime in that I'm also currently playing the Babes Ironman, scenario 40, and loving it.

OK, guys just trying to get back in the game with a friend. Wanted to try against the AI but not the stock. I have a normal vanilla map non-extended I believe. Was looking for scenario 2. I have Downloaded from post 2 I believe the IronmanJAP Vs ALLED (Nasty version5). Have copied all the data to the SCEN folder. Is there anything else I need to do gents? Will this scenario be overpowering? Really just wanted the AI not to run out of resources etc :)
Thanks to all the chaps who keep this thread going and help out the newbies!!

If you plan the IJ, you will really, really hate the Dorniers.

If you play the allies, you will hate the infiltrators.

Remember, separate game files. Each ironman only has one AI side, not both.
