16. January 1942

The Soviet Winter Strikes event fires, weakening our entire eastern front. The entire German budget this month is spent on replenishment and upgrades. Looks like next month will be the same.

An Indian Special Forces unit is eliminated in Tabriz. German and Italian units will try to secure Persia, but I don't think we will be moving beyond railroad connectivity.

As we enter 1942, Italy's fleet is gone, except for a submarine and DD operating in the Indian ocean. Two armies are in production (2 more can be produced as MPP allows) and we are maxed out on infantry corps.

It is doubtful we'll ever invest in any further technology.

Germany has only 4 active subs remaining, with a further 2 in severe difficulty near Norway (cornered by the British fleet). Other than that though their armed forces are largely intact and growing. Note that we have built quite a few armies.

Technologically German is doing fine, except our fighter tech is a bit behind.

Japan has built a few bomber units early in the war but this year we only have a single maritime bomber under production (not counting garrisons). We are woefully unprepared for war with the USA.

Technologically we are lagging far behind. We desperately need to find the budget for fighter tech.

Germany loses 2 subs off Norway. German forces in Russia rest and refit. Heavy fighting near Tabriz.

Japan keeps the pressure up in India. The fleet is now upgraded and we will start to look at our Pacific defenses, which are at the moment non-existent.

13 March 1942

Sweden joins the Axis. This will greatly help our defense of Scandinavia.

Italy captures Djibouti while Japan attacks Yemen. Taking Sudan will be a struggle, I am not sure Italy is up for the task.

Further heavy fighting for Persia. German units struggle with supply. We may need some air support.

Warfare on the eastern front has gone from fast moving to trench warfare with heavy artillery.

Japan contemplates the difficulties of conquering India even against light opposition, and starts a crash fighter research program.

10 April 1942

The fight for Persia (and Baku) continues. We should be able to conclude operations here in 1942.

North American forces are aiding the defense of Leningrad. We make some minor progress on the Moscow front, but I am none too confident we can take the city in 1942. Major Russian reserves seem to have mobilized.

Failing to seize Calcutta and Bombay early on was a mistake. It will be very hard to dislodge the units from those cities now.

Despite reduced troop levels, Japan is finally making progress in China. Kunming should fall soon.
