Turn 23 July 29, 1944
Guam: A second wave of US forces land on the north and west side of the island. Almost the entire garrison of Guam had been relocated to the north end (earlier) and dug in deep. The results of these landings spells utter disaster for the Americans. Tokyo Rose had broadcast that the defenders would not be where the Americans thought they were. Since all radios were confiscated (what Naval Intelligence told us), they never heeded the warnings.....
Tinian: US forces are converging on Ushi to recapture the recaptured airfields up north. Another Japanese sleeper force is crawling to an objective.
Saipan: Saito Force does a banzai charge and runs into a Marine ambush.

wow these landings are a disaster
Dunno how experienced you are in Strategic Command in general Simicro. But naval landings are a dicey endeavour.
Coming from AVL's your HQs will start with a 10 supply that diminishes turn by turn. It is absolutely vital to keep the HQs screened or else you will end up with combat troops in zero supply. Which drastically lowers all their stats essentially dooming them

Agree! I'm a total dummy! There's always a dummy in a beta-test. This time it's me

Simicro is learning like I have from you. Also, he is a 1 'percenter' (multiplayer) like us two and is now doomed!Duedman wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 7:16 pm wow these landings are a disaster

Its General Lotus Eater my friend haha. Its all good man. You are one of us MPers now. You have stuck it out, and that says a lot!Simicro wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 9:30 pmAgree! I'm a total dummy! I also do some experiments but it doesn't take away anything from General Saito's play. The good news is that I'm hooked with SC and PBEM, there are plenty of things to learn and I met some nice people. In one word: FUN

Turn 24 July 31, 1944
Guam: The US landings on the north and west end of the island are isolated and being crushed.
Tinian: The Ha-Go Tank Company holds Ushi as the Americans crawl north through rain and mud.
Saipan: The Saito Force is wiped out to the last man. General Saito's remaining command grimly holds out with little food or ammunition.

Turn 25 Aug 2, 1944
Guam: The American landing forces are getting wiped out.
Tinian: The 'Sleeper' force comprising assets of an Hq that hid in the jungle on the southern tip of the island after Tinian Town was lost, crawls out of the jungle in an attempt to retake the town and airfield.
The Ha-Go tank company still holds on the northern tip and Ushi. The Americans coming up are hampered by mud and low supply.
Saipan: Intense airstrikes and bombardments plus American Marines advancing are making the situation desperate for General Saito. They will try to take as many of the enemy as they can down to Hadesu (Hades) with us as we can.
BANZAI!

Turn 26 Aug 4, 1944
Saipan: General Saito, upon getting a radio message of Nippon's success on Guam, conveys this to his diminished troops. They rally and make one last banzai charge under a rain of fire and steel on the approaching Americans.
Tinian: The 'Sleeper Force' comprising a Hq is wiped out just outside Tinian Town. The Ha-Go tankers at Ushi smoke up the last of the captured Lucky Strikes, and prepare to die for the Emperor!
Guam: The last remnants of the US forces that landed are getting rubbed out. Plans are made to redeploy to new positions in case a third wave landing is attempted......

Saipan: Japanese resistance is almost at an end with General Saito's Hq holding Narpi Airfield. They will fight to the bitter end.
Tinian: The Ha-Go Tank Company is fighting in bitter hand to hand combat at Ushi town. They are almost out of ammo but will also fight to the last man.

Re: Marianas Scenario MP Match AAR [Japan]
Turn 29 Aug 10, 1944
Saipan: Other than some artillery on the south end of the island, all Japanese forces are eliminated.
Tinian: No Japanese forces remain.
Rota: US forces land near Songsong port but do not seize it. Major Imagawa reacts and starts moving his garrison to meet the Marines before they establish supply.
Guam: General Tagashima's victorious forces continue moving to new positions. All the artillery is fully stocked.
A small history of Rota during WW2:
The Japanese garrison during World War II consisted of 1,031 Imperial Japanese Army men of the 10th Independent Mixed Brigade, under the command of Major Shigeo Imagawa, and about 600 Imperial Japanese Navy men.[2] During the final stages of the war, Rota was occasionally bombed by aircraft of the U.S. Navy in an attempt to silence its radio transmitter that was providing warning to the Japanese home islands upon the take-off of B-29 Superfortress bomber attacks from Tinian, Saipan, and Guam, but the island was never invaded by American troops. B-29 bombers on Guam would use Rota to dump their bombs if they had mechanical issues and needed to turn back during a raid on Japan. On September 2, 1945, one hour after the surrender of Japan, a detachment of U.S. Marines arrived on Rota to accept the surrender of the Japanese garrison, which numbered 947 Imperial Japanese Army and 1853 Imperial Japanese Navy.

@Tuco
Of course I am aware that Rota is not in the victory objectives, but I decided to land there for a few turns... just for fun... and in order to... puzzle you!
I'm very curious: what was your reaction? Honestly? Well, I confess that landing on Rota costed me a few unit strenght points due to the lack of supply.

Haha you jumped right into my trap Bill

The trap was actually for Tuco! (OldCrow)
Re: Marianas Scenario MP Match AAR [Japan]
Great stuff guys!
If there was a Grammy or an Academy Award for what you did you'd win best play-by-play, writing and graphics.
Thank you - that was a lot of effort.

Thanks Rob for you kind words. Much appreciated. Of course Kudos to Tuco (that sounds nice!) who initiated this AAR and dedicate time, energy and love to it.
